1) Because nobody trades away good bats.  They are extremely valuable.

B) They traded for Vaughn, Jansen, and Lockridge last year, with the last two specifically to address bad bench hitting.  In 2023 they traded for Santana and Canha, and took a flyer on Josh Donaldson.  

For telling someone else that something went over their head, you sure don't have a good memory.  Or research skills.

I'd love for someone to explain to me why Turang was sac bunting in the 7th inning against a wild pitcher who fell down 2-0 against him then swinging away in the bottom of the 9th. I just really don't understand a lot of the in game strategy decisions this team makes. Like why pinch hit Pratt against a tough LHP when Pratt has what I imagine zero close to zero experience as a PH when Gary Sanchez is on your bench?

There are a lot of posters with varying view points and quite a few with atagonistic posting styles.  Somehow one blockhead has managed to unite all of that and all in 48 hours and wear it like a badge of honor.  I simply cannot think of anything more pathetic.  I mean, where does your life have to be for that to be a thing for you.  Anyway, time to stop responding to the blockhead.  The more we feed it, the more the blockhead comes out.

It would be easy to blame Sproat for the loss, and largely accurate. But an awful lot on Wild Bill too, on both ends of the floor. It's frustrating when you get a clutch AB late (Davis vs Ashby) & their #9 hitter, despite being retired puts up a solid AB & hits one right on the screws. Then Yelich & Contreras basically get themselves out by chasing with a couple men on. And in the 9th, I guess a guy throwing 99-100 means you're supposed to chase breaking balls, even though there wasn't much evidence he was going to throw strikes with it. Most of the competitiveness today w/the bats came from the people a lot of folks wanted replaced--Hamilton & Ortiz.

Thought Stallings would be the one to go with the additions. That's still a strong possibility since he went four innings, but we should definitely see him back.

Fifty games left. Like I said earlier---Chourio, Mitchell, Yelich, Contreras, Vaughn. It's squarely on them. Yelich, everyone knows the failures there & it's up in the air as to what he can give you. The other four need to be better, and have been.

It didn't have to be this deadline. They didn't trade for a bat last year, they didn't sign a power bat in FA either They are allergic to power bats it seems. Is it everything? No, but when you are a struggling offense, with the way they play, it sure would be nice to have at least a couple of guys in the lineup that can win you a game like tonight with one swing of the bat. Plus their style just doesn't work in the playoffs against great pitching. It has never worked for any team. Why they don't seem to understand that is beyond me.
