With how good the Cubs offense is, they will probably overtake us in the division by tomorrow. 

In seriousness, it would be nice to win this one to dampen any Northside enthusiasm.

Cubs only scored one run against pitchers not named Harrison, and arguably it was their best SP against our worst (right now).

If the Brewers win the next three 1-0, 2-1, 5-4, no one in Chicago will remember the seven runs allowed by Andrew Vaughn, and their enthusiasm will transition to wondering if they've "peaked too early," or that they "rely too much on the HR," or that their bullpen stinks. We'll be back to crowing about owning the division.

But even if ultimately, the Brewers succumb to the inevitable Cubs, it won't be because they suck, or because they forgot how to play good baseball. They have been a .600+ winning team for too long for them to collapse, I think [knocks wood].

Stay the course. Get to their 'pen. Play your way. Play clean. Play hard. Relaxed focus. Rinse, repeat. Bob's [Gasser] your uncle.

If last night was an indicator, the Cubs are going to be depositing more baseballs into the Left Field bleachers or on to Waverly.   I turned it off after Vaughn came into the game in the 7th inning (Say what?!) and got lit up.   Just glad the Brewers lead before this series began was 8 games.

This team has bounced back well before.  The 22-0 shellacking didn't help us the next night against the Mariners. 

I don't trust Gasser, but I'm still optimistic we can split the series.

Getting a win tonight would be massive.  Pretty much neutralizes last night and positions us well for our top 2 throwing in games 3/4

There's no way to sugarcoat last night BUT this series on paper should be a split and last night was their best opportunity. It just feels terrible because of how they won.

If Gasser keeps the ball in the park we are fine tonight I think. Take 1 or 2 of the next 3 and then win the series in Milwaukee and we can breathe easy.

I remember, during our Cy Burnes years, really hoping the wind would be blowing out because our offense wasn't good unless one or two guys hit it far. We lost a good number of April series in wind-blowing-in conditions.

Now, of course, it's the opposite. Our offense is basically wind-proof, and their lineup hits it far. Tough luck for us.

Supposed to be another good offensive night tonight, so Gasser will need to keep it in the park as much as possible. I thought there was a good chance of being down 0-2 in the series with Mis and Henderson taking the hill, so I think grabbing this one would go a long, long way to feeling just fine about this series. Good news is, even the worst possible outcomes for the Brewers still involve being up quite a bit in the division with runway running out.

Tonight's setup feels similar to last night's. Hard to envision Gasser keeping the Cubs offense down with the wind blowing out again. I'm not sure we'll have enough offense to outslug the Cubs but you never know.

Nice to have the bullpen in pretty good shape, although it looks bigger than it actually is given it has both Gasser and Drohan in there.

The thing about this team they're playing---when they get on a roll they refuse to swing outside the zone, which can put a lot of pressure on a pitcher. I had other stuff going on last night & didn't turn the game on until it was 6-0, and maybe the most impressive thing I saw was how they were taking pitches that were off the plate (both close & otherwise) even when they had runners on base & were up by 7 or 8 runs. To me that's at least as impressive as the early HRs, and certainly more impressive than the beer league HRs in the 7th & 8th innings. Gasser needs to mix & command, just as he needs to do vs anyone else, and find himself in more 0-2 & 1-2 counts than the opposite. Otherwise he could have issues.

Holmes was pretty good (I thought Murphy maybe gave him a little TOO much credit though), but this 'trust each other, move the line' thing is way too intermittent with our hitters. I thought they might've had a chance to make things a little interesting in the 4th with 2 on & 1 out, but then Yelich put up an AB that did nothing to make me believe he trusts the next guy (Mitchell). Couple of chases, two out. "Trusting each other" makes for good copy in postgame after scoring 6 or 8 runs. It needs to be more of a game-in, game-out mantra.

Maybe we've gotten spoiled, but it's weird to see the Brewers listed as an underdog (+115 / 45c-ish).

I don’t think anybody expects Gasser to be a stopper, but hopefully he can keep the team in the game for 4 or 5 innings and the offense can put up some runs.

I don’t think the Brewers are going to win any 3-2 or 2-1 games in this series with the wind blowing out, so it’s up to the offense to be competitive.

Man last night sucked. It’s not even the loss. It’s one loss, who cares.

The bigger issue is the uncertainty of whether Harrison is going to be a useful postseason pitcher for us or not. That’s the worst that came out of last night.
