I can't quite let myself get excited yet. That rotation is still what it is and it just doesn't feel all that difficult for them to string off 4 straight wins. At 3-0 I'd start to feel it, but 2-0 just doesn't feel like much especially with 3 on the road.

Be patient. Snell was inefficient last time out against the Braves. That didn't translate into a lot of scoring, however - only one run given up despite 3 hits and 5 walks over 3 and 2/3 innings. He's a 2-time Cy, so can't really expect a repeat of that, but getting him to throw a lot of pitches might be doable.

I hear ya, but this season, this playoff series feels different.

We have a chance, and right now, a pretty good one.

its not just the swagger the brewers are exuding, but you also hear it in the Dodgers kind of like they are in a different place mentally right now in facing the brewers and looking for answers. Their swagger is noticeably missing. Feels very different right now.

Nobody needs a reminder of the Bucks in 2019. Lose in OT in Game 3, and that about does it. I doubt the Brewers will disappear like that, but it's definitely foot on the gas.

For me, part of that is giving Sanchez and Vaughn BOTH starts today. Sanchez is, no joke, Barry Bonds against Blake Snell, in 30 PAs. I know it's risky, but I don't think you can pass up the chance. I posted about this in the open thread last night, but I'm even more committed to it this morning.

I won't be hopping mad if Murph doesn't do it. But I think it's clearly the right call, if risky and unconventional in terms of starting your only 2 available catchers.

Yea my memory of last year and when we played him this year is if we just didn't swing at any offspeed pitches we'd have been fine.  Basically every changeup and curve was out of the zone.   But of course easier said than done identifying the changeup

I want to get this out of the way early.

I was wrong.

Last game I was pushing back against some posters that thought Pratt should have made the play on that hard ground ball that hopped up on him and off his glove.

My initial perception of the play and several game shown replays was that the ball hit the ground super close to Pratt and that his glove was lower than it actually was, similar to a short hop throw to first base that could be like a 50/50 ball. When I saw a replay later that night after the game ended, I saw my perception was incorrect. It absolutely was not as difficult a play as I initially thought it was.

Apologies to @CheezWizHed @TURBO @Jopal78 whom I think I personally replied to on that topic.

Now, let's cheer the Brewers to a win in game 3!

Feeling pretty confident going into tonight's game. Pull out a win tonight to go up 3-0, and I'm feeling golden,

As long as we can take 1 of 3 in LA, we are in excellent shape.

I agree that getting one of these is ultimately what has to happen. But the flow feels significant too. If they have lost 2 straight, nobody is going to feel good. If they win Game 5, confidence will be high.

Just sweep them, please. As bad as I want to witness a Game 6 from the park, it's not worth it.

Agreed! I would have absolutely no problem watching the Dodgers' visitor's clubhouse get soaked with champagne and Miller Light.

I feel like order to get this whole thing done, we'll need at least 1 game where we mash and win handily. I just don't see us winning 6 more nail biters.

The time is NOW!

You’d figure at some point the injuries would catch up to Snell and Glasnow.

Neither one has cracked 100 innings since 2024 due to injuries. It would be great if the slippage from all those injuries became evident in the next few days

.484/.957/1.441 (assuming the other 2 hits were singles).

I'd say he needs to DH today.

Don't forgot the soda from Mr. Pratt

Yeah, I was just looking at the splits before coming on here. I don't think there's anyway you can keep Sanchez out of the starting lineup tonight. He hammers Snell.

to be fair, IMO both 2025 and 2026 seasons their injuries weren't exactly the type of severity that justifies keeping them out 3+ months of the regular season - the Dodgers simply had the luxury despite paying both a mountain of $$$ to give them an extended break in hopes they ramp up and are fresh for October knowing if they'd log a full season's worth of innings at this stage of their career they'd either be burned out or injured now.  Both have been rustier this October than they were last year, so let's hope that continues.

Today is one of those games where it would be great if Yeli could still play a serviceable LF. Put Chourio in RF and Sanchez at DH. Obviously that’s not happening (nor should it), but him having zero defensive ability is hamstringing the flexibility a bit.

I don't think it will happen, but I would start Vaughn at 1B, Lara in RF, and Sanchez at DH to start. Those three give you the best chance to win tonight's game. Then you have Yelich and Bauers off the bench once Snell comes out of the game.

Certainly worth noting that Snell hasn't gone more than 4 innings for more than a month now....

If they can avoid hacking uncharacteristically, they have a real opportunity to get to the Dodgers' pen quite early again.
