There’s a difference between a punt game and a game where you don’t have all your best players available. “Punt” suggests you are resting guys, such as giving Contreras a day off.

starting a Drohan or May is a necessity. Trying to not overuse your pitchers is the definition of managing. I have no doubt that it’s all hands on deck tonight, if needed. You can rest for a week if you sweep

I don't understand that at all. It's not a ratings call because the Masked Singer has significantly lower ratings than every NLCS game of prior seasons.

If FS1 can pull close to similar ratings as if it were shown on FOX then I guess the execs might see it as a win/win.

Not sure if this is correct, but given LHP Gasser’s success yesterday and the decent work May did out of the ‘pen recently, I think it makes sense to give Drohan the start. Go Brewers!

They need to air some of the LCS games exclusively on FS1 to justify the cable carriage fees paid to Fox for that network

Many of you were nervous waiting all day yesterday for the game, but I felt pretty chill.

That is not the case today. This will be just the third game in history the Brewers will have an opportunity to clinch a pennant, Game 5 in ‘82 and Game 7 in 2018 were the previous times. Game 7 of 2018 never felt like much of a chance…just felt like an uphill battle the way the Dodgers were loaded and ready that game.

I'm feeling pretty good right now, but as game time approaches, that will likely change.

Our pitching needs to be lights out one more time, whoever takes the mound. If we let the Dodgers gain some confidence, that would cause serious worry about potential future games.

Mind blown if I stop and think about it. Honestly, I know how I'd react and it definitely wouldn't be the manliest way possible. But we're not there yet.

I'm going to bawl like a baby if it happens.

I like the Drohan to May idea. Drohan can hopefully get through the lineup once and maybe through some of the lefties a second time, say 3 innings. That way May can shorter if a little shaky or just go most of the rest of the way if he has it. Also with Ashby not pitching yesterday I could see Murph try to go Drohan, May, Ashby to take it all the way.

I'm also guessing that the margins on proprietary programming are higher than on content that they have to pay for.

If we do make Drohan official, I wonder how Roberts will play it. Start his righties(?) and then how soon does he swing back to Muncy, etc off the bench against May. When that happens we have Romero, Ashby, Harrison to mitigate. I love chess. I love baseball.

If he copies the Brewers’ approach against the Padres then he should start his lefties.

Delta has free wifi on my flight!  I can just go to YouTubeTV.com since I already subscribe to YouTubeTV.

If it doesn’t work and you have an XM radio subscription you should be able to listen to the audio feed at least.  Or sign up for a month for MLB Audio subscription which is about $6.

I’m naturally a worrier.  It’s how I’m wired.   I worry they’re going to pound us today and get their bats going.   With who the Dodgers have for starting pitching it’s definitely possible they can come back.  It would also be on brand as a Wisconsin sports fan that consistently deals with heartbreak

Thanks for the reminder - I do have a Sirius XM subscription.  Lifetime - paid $500 for it in 2002 or 2003.

at this point, you have to be setting up the pitching for the World Series in how you approach playing time. My take:
- try to work more guys in. you dont want to add to the pressure if/when they are needed and havent been trusted all playoffs and now its Game 5 of the WS and we need them.

- try to rest key pitchers. I dont want to see Miz playing a road game the rest of the playoffs, period. Hopefully he isnt needed for a game back home, but some of these guys are being taxed right now. Rest Uribe, pick your spot with Ashby.

i guess im concered that we seem to be tightening up the bullpen and making those guys work harder and harder. That could backfire in terms of getting tired and the other guys gettign tighter

Yeah I mean the Dodgers pen is pretty much rested after yesterday and the Brewers are a little thinner there plus we have Drohan on the mound. So there is reason to be worried.

But by the same token, bring it on.

If you wait to throw Miz Game 6, you would have no ability to use him Game 7. I think I prefer Game 5 so he still has some ability to be used another game.

May want to check if you get streaming with that.  I know they separated the regular subscription with the streaming.  But not sure if the lifetime subscription also receives streaming.

He isnt likely to be used in game 7, unless for some reason he comes in tonight. Miz also has become increasingly frustrated at opponent's pitching mounds and it opens up the door for gamesmanship. I think they will just have him pitch home games, unless its a quick turnaround from a Game 6 to Game 1-2

He hasn’t pitched that well at home either. Do we really have to baby the Cy Young winner that badly?

We have so many outs available in the bullpen but a lot of those guys haven't thrown in a week or two.

May for 6-9 outs to start? Then you have Romero, Drohan, Harrison for the top of the order and Senza/Patrick for the extended bottom half and let the chips fall as they may? Ashby/Hall/Megill are a no go unless the pennant is there to be had.

What a wild last sentence I just wrote.
