Miley needs to go deep into the game tonight. The bullpen is shot. They lost the series in Miami and this series could see them still in first place or not at the break. Go Miley!

I doubt that is going to happen his first game off from rehab. I assume they will bring Woodruff and Houser up and have one ready at the first sign of trouble in the 4th+.

He went 4.0 innings and 57 pitches in his last rehab and 4.1 innings and 66 pitches the rehab start before that in Biloxi.

Yep. Even if Miley doesn't have any restrictions, he's still restricted by being Wade Miley. A couple decent Spring Training starts and one solid MLB start in early May isn't going to change that.

Last night on the broadcast they said his target is 65 pitches tonight.

Boy, hard to pick a worse game to have a guaranteed short start coming.

I imagine Peralta will be going down today (perhaps he goes as part of activating Miley), given that he won't start until after the ASB anyway.

I would guess Lopez too with Miley on a short leash. Houser makes sense to be called up since he seems to be the shuttle guy.

I think the Crew can get 3 of 5 in Pitt, but tonight will be tough with the late night and bullpen scrambling. The good news is, the Brewers are 10-6 so far on this 21 game/20 day stretch, and 7-4 so far in July. Also, after this weekend, the Brewers will have played 5 more games than the Cubs, and the Cubs have to begin their second half schedule a day early.

As frustrating as the series in Miami was, this team has been so banged up and patched together, especially pitching wise, that being where they are is pretty amazing. Hope the O mashes tonight (not any kind of reference to Machado, I promise)!

Orf, Lopez and Peralta out.

Miley, Asher and Hauser in.

When was the last time Woodruff pitched? Seems like he would have been ideal to come up.

If Miley goes 4, I'd consider that the best case scenario. Going to have to pile on some runs.

Side note: How does Alec Asher make it to an MLB roster?

Maybe saving Woodruff as the extra man for the double header?

That would be my guess. He'll be called up to be the 26th man for the double header.

That's what I was going to say too.

Also, if you haven't looked at the post ASG schedule they have their work cut out for them. LAD, WAS, SF, LAD, Col with no off days until Aug 6. Kind of a make or break stretch there, can't have a repeat of last year.

3-2 or 4-1 to finish here would be nice leading into that

Eh, seems like Pittsburg has been a horror show lately. I'm expecting a rough five games and second place by the break and then watch this place go into melt down mode.

Good move to get Houser up. If Miley can't go too far he is a good one to get the call. I think he should stay up anyway.

Thames

Cain

Yelich

Aguilar

Shaw

Miller

Saladino

Kratz

Miley

Villar remains in the doghouse. Also appears it's going to be a straight 50/50 arrangement for Kratz and Nottingham. I'm personally not a fan of that, especially considering they may need Kratz's 25- and 40-man spots soon.

It looks like we should be ok with pitchers available. Hader, Houser, Asher, Jeffress are certainly all available. Williams and Knebel are probably available. Jennings is probably not, Barnes is definitely not. I have to assume Houser is going to piggy-back Miley and then get sent down. I'm not sure why Anderson is slated to start Sunday and not Saturday. Who the heck is going to pitch for us in those 2 games Saturday? Suter and Wilkerson? Wilkerson and Woodruff? If we could take 2 wins of 5 without playing and get to the break...I'd do it. The roster is battered and the arms are generally tired...we need those 4 days.

To start the game we're tied at 0-0 so technically Hader isn't available.
