2021-05-11: Cardinals (Kim) at Brewers (Peralta) [Brewers lose, 6-1 in 11 innings -- Peralta allows 1 hit and records 8 strikeouts over 7.0 IP]

One more wild pitch is all we need!

[adambr2]

As someone who was frustrated at Hader’s usage in the bottom of the 9th in Miami in the 1-1 tie game, I will say I think it’s much more understandable to use him in the 9th at home (when you still have an at bat in the bottom of the 9th), especially with the Cardinals middle of the order up.

That being said, here’s a FanGraphs article that outlines some of the reasoning why high strikeout closers are more valuable than ever in the new extra innings format: Save Your Closer! (Terms and Conditions May Apply)

Thanks for this article. Hader should be the 10th inning guy.

I could see it tonight. He had the 4-6 guys I believe.

Counsell went from one of the most innovative managers in baseball in '18 and prior to a old timer smoking a cigar straight out of 1979.

Did not like that strike call!!!! Edited May 12, 2021 by MoreTrife

Almost

[nate82]

That was a t-ball at bat by Taylor.

[HarveysWBs]

A hitter, a hitter...my kingdom for a hitter

[markedman5]

Another borderline strike goes Cards way and then Taylor waves at one in the dirt

[adambr2]

Brewers gonna Brewer. Start with a guy on 2nd, get a wild pitch and still can't get him home.

[Jopal78]

What did Reyes throw 9 pitches. If the Brewers are just going to strike out all the time they could at least make the pitcher work a little

[MoreTrife]

How many more years left on that Cain deal?

One after this year unfortunately. Maybe he'll opt out again.

[yourout]

They cant put balls in play when it really matters

[ReverendBrewmeister]

Just keep tossing those RISP opportunities into the trash bin……

[wOOgiE22]

Well that was an uninspiring inning.

[markedman5]

[Eye Black]

Brewers 1-for-12 with RISP tonight.

[HarveysWBs]

Can’t they all just watch Kolton Wong hit and, you know, do it like that?

[phnxcrew]

Maybe Houser and woodruff should be hitting every night. ugh

[wallus]

They should start a guy on 3rd in the 11th, because why not.

[BruisedCrew]

I don’t like the odds of Boxberger keeping the ball in the park against both Goldschmidt and Arenado.

[adambr2]

What's it like to be able to just move a runner over from 2nd to 3rd?

[yourout]

Good pitching performance wasted by another inept offensive showing.

[trwi7]

Pitchers giving up 2 hits in 10 innings isn't even good enough for this God awful offense.

[markedman5]

So predictable

[pacopete4]

Ish. Just ish.

[Bulldogboy]

I just can't understand what has happened to the game of baseball in general. How can the sport continue to grow when basically every night is just strikeout after strikeout and zero runs being scored. The brewers are terrible but they are just a reflection of the game itself. It's bad baseball and more than anything else it's boring.
