I'd actually like to see the Brewers sign Escobar to an extension. The last time he was traded at the deadline, he signed an extension before free agency began that I thought was below market. I'd like to see history repeat itself.

 

 

With so many guys under team control, and Escobar being 32, I'd find it highly unlikely for Stearns to put a lot of effort into pursuing Escobar long term.

That might be true but he only got a 3/$21 deal when he was 29 and coming off a 3.5 fWAR season. Who's to say a 2/$15 deal might get it done this time. I just don't want to go into next season with the same junk at first we had this year. I think he'd be pretty good insurance at a fairly affordable price.
