Mets (Scherzer) vs Brewers (Miley): 4/4/23, 6:40pm

He has done this 3x/game for the last 8 years.

I found it aggravating for the first 2 seasons I noticed he was doing it, then became fond of the 'aloofness' the same way I like listening to my grandfather try to tell a story.

That is no knock on anyone. I care about Uecker more than most of my family.

What Uecker says and what happens on the field are often two completely different things.

I'd be surprised if the trio of Jenkins, Sexton, and Burnitz didn't pull it off. Didn't Sexton/Burnett hit 5-7HRs in 1 game vs Diamondbacks?

Going back farther I'm wondering if Thomas and Ogilvie didn't do it at some point

Wiemer's speed good for a stolen base, a fly in the corner on a bad route, and now an infield hit.   Good stuff.

Oh, and also getting doubled off stealing.  A slow player would never have gotten that far away.

two bare bottom spankings and then you get Burnes. Thanks for playing, NY!

Uke has clearly slipped the last 8-10 years.  But I hope to be as coherant and funny as he is in my 80s.  He is still a better color commentater than Rock.

Yes, if you want someone to give you every detail of the game you'll need to find it elsewhere.

Until he retires, I'll be happy to live with assuming the guy caught the pop up (trust me...you'll know if he didn't) and laughing at the antics and stories.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

This was a blessing in the 90s! 😂

Yah, even people that listen to him every year a bunch admit he has been spiraling the past few years.

He is past due to retire.

Like the time a few years ago when he said Braun swung and missed as he hit a mammoth game changing HR in a game against the Padres.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

For the record, I love Uecker. A treasure.

This series is reminiscent of the opening weekend in 1978 when the Brewers swept the Orioles while scoring a ton of runs, including a grans slam HR in each game.

Need to cap this one off with another big output tomorrow.

Of course we just spanked Scherzer tonight and Corbin gave up 4 last time... nothing is certain.

They just said Sexson and Burnitz did it in 2001.

Now we need to win 8-0 tomorrow, right?

Game day just called an Ottavino pitch a sweeper.  Lol what.

A hot term this spring...basically the pitch tracking has noticed that the term "slider" is too vague.  There are sweeper sliders (more horizontal movement) and gyro-sliders (more vertical movement)

To be fair Burnes should have had a 3R 2ER outing. Adames had 2 errors but the mental 1 that was a fielders choice where he gets the 3rd out by throwing to 1st wasn't listed as an error. When that run scored on the play, the 4th in inning, it apparently also made the the original unearned run now count as earned.

Uke doesn't give you a Kodachrome picture of the game, instead he paints a Monet or Van Gogh picture of the game.  Details get lost, but the overall image is is great.  His stories are more Dahli, though.

To note that the back-to-back-to-back blasts came off Scherzer is a big deal for me.

This Brewers offense looks much better, and we have Ashby and Houser due off the disabled list in the next few weeks, not to mention Urias back (although whether he has a spot is an open question).

His surrealism era a couple years ago wasn't so hot.  Glad he is feeling better and back to his Impressionist past.

Yeah it was a weak 4 runs (and avoided the term "earned"), but the point was that Burnes pitching doesn't guarantee the W.  Hopefully he reads that and pitches mad tomorrow. 😉

I would love to see this lineup tomorrow against the lefty...

Turang 4

Adames 6

Yelich 7

Contreras 0

Anderson 9

Brosseau 5

Voit 3

Caratini 2

Wiemer 8

If Counsell is going to hit Yelich 3rd against lefties, I would rather Turang leadoff than Brosseau.
