Craig...if you're reading this you are my favorite draft pick of all time.

I don't know about Austin (10th round pick), but the other three pitchers have something.  Kuehner had five saves for Louisville and 12.7 K/9 in 38 IP this past season.  Yoho had 15.3 K/9 over 37 IP at Indiana.  Manfredi had 10.9 K/9 at Dayton and 11.1 K/9 in 13 IP so far in the CCL.  Maybe there's a potential reliever or two in that group.

Nice one.  With a name like Yoho, I assume the Pirates were heavily interested.  Gotta love beating a division rival to the punch.  😉

Take away the May 18th debacle vs Lamar and Morris Austin did pretty well (8.2IP  7H  2ER  4BB and 12K)  but small sample size and most likely drafted to take less than slot.

Morris has big velocity, around 97.

Cooper liking this tweet of mine is good enough for me!

Brewers sign all top 10 round guys. They are shooting 100% at it. They know the price & have deals somewhat lined up before they pick any player. I do love when some fans want high ceiling recognizable names up & down the top 10 rounds but it’s just not realistic. It is all strategy. You need your Woodward under slot type picks to sign your Pratt’s.

Brewers have infused some very intriguing players into the mix & went outside normal box a little bit from way they had previous years under Johnson. Excited to see the kids hit the field & see what he have!

A draft with a massive bat in Wilkin, 2 HS infielders with big potential at the plate, and a bunch of spin rate pitchers? Love it.

Most exciting draft in a long time.

If they sign all 11 this is a grand slam of a draft.

Also, I doubt the Brewers are making any new fans at Ole Miss between Knoth and Pratt.

6’ 4”, 6’ 5”, 6’ 4”, 6’ 2”, big-time size added to the corner IF. 5 of the top 80 amateur prospects in the country added. Power bats added, power arms added. If Johnson & co. pull this one off starting with the 18th pick, wow, just wow.

I’m ready to anoint Arnold as the GOAT GM.

Well… Tod Johnson as GOAT drafter. Arnold has done very little for me to believe in him yet. Gimme Doug or Stearns (prior to 22’ which tech Arnold was GM) back

I'm a little late to the party (need to retrieve my password from the desktop to get back logged in on my phone), but I'll echo everyone to say I'm feeling much better about the draft than I was 24 hours ago.

1. I like what I've read about Boeve as a player, but his profile has such a narrow development path that I was a little disappointed when it looked like he was going to be the third best prospect from this year's class. But as the sixth best? That's a good draft class.

2. Yes, I said sixth. I just automatically assume at this point that any JUCO pitcher the Brewers take is going to turn into a legit prospect.

3. The logistics of the Wisconsin and Carolina rosters are going to be interesting next year. It gets glossed over because of the number of top level prospects in the outfield, but the infield was already deeper on the lower levels (you could make a case that the top three prospects on the ACL team are all infielders) and this draft just increases that disparity. Yophery Rodriguez pulling a Chourio/Mendez/Lara and reaching A ball early next year could help, but it wouldn't shock me if a couple of infielders get cross-trained just to get the bats in the lineup.

4. The Brewers taking a fifth-year freshman seems like the perfect follow-up to taking a fourth-year JUCO and a D-II pitcher on day 2 last year. Let it never be said that the Brewers leave any stone unturned when it comes to locating college pitching.

5. As intriguing as all of these third basemen or likely future third basemen are, I'm sticking with Knoth as my favorite pick from the draft class. I'm a sucker for upside arms.

Winker and Voit were duds (-1.1 combined WAR), but Contreras, Miller and Anderson (4.4 combined WAR) on offense, Miley, Rea and Teheran (3.8 combined rWAR) in the rotation and  Payamps, Peguero and Wilson (+4.89 combined WPA) in the bullpen is around thirteen wins from nine mostly low key Arnold acquisitions.

The main reason the team hasn’t run away with the NLC are holdovers like Burnes, Peralta, Lauer, Adames, Tellez, Taylor and Urias underperforming to varying degrees. Hard for me to blame Arnold for that.

I know next to nothing about the amateur guys, but I always like having new blood injected into the system. I hope these guys all pan out. But I also know it's a crapshoot, so I try not to get too excited. But it's still fun.

From the sound of things, adding Pratt would make this a deep draft of some nice prospects. Fun stuff.

Important to remember to give credit to proper people when it comes to Draft. Arnold is in the room, knows who’s on board but Tod & his group should get the credit they are do when they have a draft that’s exciting. They are on road year round, scouting, building relationships, figuring out pool strategy & what players will take where, and pulling the trigger on his guys.

I’m not say Arnold is or isn’t a good GM. Imo the product on field is solid at best. Also the guys drafting should be credited for drafting. Let’s give Tod the love he deserves

One of my favorite pastimes is unearthing the quote-filled articles the day of / day after the young men's Brewers' draft experience. Unfortunately, the online subscription wave has made fewer of these stories fully available to us. But these two are excellent (and free) and we'll continue to pursue others:

5th Round RHP Ryan Birchard, Niagara County Community College

***

7th Round LHP Tate Kuehner, Louisville

And here is that story:

Brewers believe in Kuehner
Former Marshalltown Bobcat picked by Milwaukee in seventh round of MLB Draft

This linked story is from February, but provides great insights into 8th round Indiana University RHP Craig Yoho's journey:

Guessing Yoho may be the only Brewers married draft pick. There's talent there as well:
