Mason Miller is a cheat code

The face he still has a negative FIP after 18 innings is absolutely absurd. Most dominant reliever in the league.

Had some SF on the other day and noticed the demanded Matt Chapman and how he's been doing. 210/258 with a 606 OPS and 5 HRs.   He's basically hitting like Oliver Dunn for like 20 mil per year.    Good thing Mark A is so cheap.

Did anyone else see Ron Washington's embarrassing press conference last night? Angels are a laughing stock of a franchise

The bad suicide squeeze was worse.

Washington calling for a suicide squeeze against a super wild pitcher was way worse than the attempt. Hey go up there and suicide squeeze against a pitcher who can't throw a strike to save his life then I will double down and lie and say the pitcher was throwing strikes.

Only time will tell if the Brewers can continue to be one of the top scoring teams in MLB (I’m guessing they won’t) and if the pounding the Yankees put on the Brewers pitching staff was an aberration or a warning sign of what might be a problem down the road given the fragile state of the starting rotation.

It’s been two weeks now since the Yankees poundings.

Since then Brewers batters have posted a 119 wRC+ (5th) and have scored 81 runs (4th).

Brewers pitchers have posted a 3.41 ERA (11th) since then, which is a slight improvement over the 3.46 ERA they posted prior to the two NYY blowouts.

So after giving up a lead off home run to the Twins to start the three game series, the Yankees pitching recorded 81 straight outs without giving up a run to end the series.

They had some stat up in the last 162 games between them the record is like 120-42.   Don't remember exact, but something in that ballpark

I think that is close to being right.  The Yankees own the Twins and not just in the playoffs either.

Michael Busch is gonna be a problem for the next few years.

I am not convinced.  He does K a lot at 34.4% currently.

Incredible. More impressive, or at least more interesting, than just rattling off three straight shutouts for the series.

I imagine at least a few Twins fans witnessed that leadoff home run, nodded approvingly, and thought, "this is going to be a good series". Bananas to go scoreless for the remainder of the series for the next 81 outs.

Rumor: Red Sox take, Willy Adames is an intriguing option.

Like Story, Adames is an elite defender with some right-handed power at the plate. The 28-year-old tallied 24 homers and 80 RBIs last season in what actually was a down year for him offensively.

Forming a middle infield of Story and Adames would be the perfect way to address the defensive issues that haunted the club throughout the 2023 season for Boston.

Red Sox are currently sitting at .500, 4th in the ALE, with eleven teams ahead of them by FanGraphs playoff odds.

Not really well positioned to be aggressive buyers.

Rickey Henderson played a long time. No wonder he has all the stolen base records.

And can we agree, that the most stolen bases in the first 44 games of a season is a stupid stat to bring up?

I agree, Maybe it was one of those AI generated stories to get clicks because Willy Adames has his contract is set to expire and he’ll hit the open market for the first time in his career.

I'm sure he will be leaving us also, I hope we can make a deal as good as the Orlando Arcia trade was.

Bogaerts just dove for a ball in the Padres game. He is leaving the game with a shoulder injury. If he were a Brewer, his shoulder would be shredded and his career would be over. We will see how it shakes out.

Since the Brewers struggles against lefties continue have to mention how well David Fry is playing for the Guardians. 395/531/737/1267 against everybody for the month of May and 1426 OPS overall against lefties for the year. Along with Daniel Norris for Reese Olson and Matt Bush for Antoine Kelly, J.C. Mejia for David Fry is another recent bad trade for bad relief pitchers.

The umpires are just awful this year.  Not just calling balls and strikes but things like the above.  Some of these umps need to be fired or something.  MLB needs to make these guys more accountable for their extremely bad calls.

I don’t even know how you can call interference on that.  The runner has the right to go back to the base there.  The infielder wasn’t interfered with and was clearly able to make the play.  If anything the fielder interfered with the runner getting back to the base.  That isn’t even clear there either but if you wanted to call interference that is what should have been called not on the runner but on the fielder.

The runner does not have the right to be in the way. The fielder has the right to go after the batted ball. If the runner is in the way that is interference. A quick look on my small phone screen says that was technically the correct call of interference. But I would either wave off the infraction or call it a dead ball and no catch. I made that exact call in youth baseball but the fielder has fallen and not made the catch.
