I understand that. Personally though, I think he was being a little overvalued as a prospect even before his injury. I also wouldn't have signed him to that extension either. At least not until he showed more in the minors.

Scratch that. Until he showed he can perform at the MLB level.

He isn't being hired because of his legal issues and what occurred, has nothing to do with his pitching talent.  If he were a boy scout, he'd be pitching in MLB right now.

Not sure what lines you are reading between, but it seems those lines are different than the rest of us.

I seriously doubt that. His legal issues are not only well behind him but they also turned out to be nothing. I think what's keeping him from a job is the fact he was, by all accounts, a grade A jerk and clubhouse cancer combined with probably not being the same pitcher he was when he last had a MLB job. Teams will put up with a lot when you're one of the best. See Barry Bonds for example. When you're no longer elite, not so much. See Barry Bonds for example.

Why don't you want to give credence to those people, in the end, they were right.  Nothing wrong with admitting the organization made a mistake.

Even though we don't like to admit it, the naysayers are often right, whether we like it or not.  They are often wrong too, but that is another story all together.

Simple fact is, a lot of people here didn't like the piecing together of the rotation with unproven, rebound, or injured guys.  It was going to take a lot of luck, and I mean A LOT OF LUCK, to get through the season on what we had in place.  That luck ran out, and we aren't even a month into the season yet.

We do often hit on a lot of those type players, but to do it in such large quantity all at once was a wish and a hope that hasn't worked out.  Win loss record looks great, but is this sustainable?  How soon before the bullpen absolutely blows up?

It's going to be an interesting ride this summer, I hope we all survive!

My point was that I believe the Brewers are/were better equipped to handle this rash of bad luck than a lot of other teams scrambling to fill SP spots due to injury, but that this rash of bad luck, all happening at once, gives the impression that the Brewers didn't do anything to shore up the staff. Many of us doubted the Joe Ross signing, for example.

Rangers just signed Johnny Cueto and are getting him ready to start asap. There are guys out there that have experience that Brewers should be all over. The fact they are doing nothing is disappointing.

I couldn't agree more. Most people nowadays seem to have forgotten that admitting their opinions turned out to be incorrect, or that they made a mistake, doesn't make them "weak". It's called being a mature adult.

If Tyreek Hill is in the NFL (and hasnt been suspended) Bauer should get a chance in the mlb.

I don't think that it's a foregone conclusion that the organization made any mistakes with roster construction. Others believe this rash of injuries proves that the Brewers didn't cover their bases. I think the start by Myers yesterday is another example that maybe the organization felt comfortable with their SP depth.

With all of the injuries happening, I think they'd be fools not to sign Bauer asap.

On Sunday when they have the kids meet the Brewers players on the field would you want your young child running out to the  mound to have a chat with Trevor Bauer?  That most people would rather not is the reason he remains out of MLB.

Lots of teams are dealing with injuries to their pitchers right now.  It's not just a Brewers issue.

Lots of teams having that issue didn't come into this season with our kind of roster construction either.

We knew we were susceptible to this from the get go, but were hoping to grab some luck.

We have had no such luck.

He was basically cleared of wrongdoing because evidence showed he was set up by 2 women trying to score a payday. So if all of us here found out about something you did wrong before, you'd be ok with everybody black ballingS you forever, ay? Even when you were cleared? No, you wouldn't. SMDH

I don’t think it’s accurate to say he’s been cleared. Regardless sexual violence or even alleged sexual violence is bad for a corporation’s branding and that’s the long and short of why Bauer is not rostered n the major leagues.

There's been other players over the years accused of domestic/sexual offenses before, yet they weren't shunned by the league. Why should Bauer be shunned? That's a complete double standard.

Out of respect for the moderators this I’ll be my last post on the subject.

Not a double standard at all, rather times/values change. Julio Urias isn’t currently in the league either.

It’s not unlike when in the mid-90s Brett Favre had an opioid addiction and was getting drugs without a prescription. If it was 2024 they would’ve suspended him for drug abuse and heads would’ve rolled within the organization for anyone supplying a player with opioids absent prescription, and those who knew and didn’t say anything  .

No idea why people are so passionate either way on Bauer.

I have no issue with giving Myers, Gasser and Wilson a shot before bringing in more guys.

Agreed. Myers looked good to me. One start obviously but some recent success in AAA. He appeared to be rocking the boat, decent velocity and a good sweep/slider. Wilson as well but I prefer him in that long relief bridge when SHF.

The way I see it is we went into the season knowing there are questions in both health and quality in the rotation. That's why the team made sure there are multiple alternatives and a lot of relievers who can go multiple innings. It isn't time to panic and deviate from that plan now. Use the depth and rely on the bullpen as planned. The way this team is built it doesn't need another ace (though it would be nice). It needs another Colin Rae.

I disagree. It's definitely a double standard.

IMO he's shunned because in addition to his skeletons, he's also a known prick/locker room cancer. Teams put up with that when he was a annual Cy Young contender. But when the ends no longer justify the means ...

I've heard that about him too. From what we've been hearing, he's been pitching at a pretty high level again. Imo, he'd be worth the risk for this year, and I'm sure he'd be relatively cheap. Especially with the injury bug rearing it's head.

IMO, its not about teams having a moral highground. We've seen for years teams overlook stuff like this over and over if it helps them win.  The Brewers employed K-Rod for years and almost no one gave a crap.  We just played Aroldis Chapman today, who's been acquired over and over by contending teams.  No one cared or is talking about Marcell Ozuna being on one of the best teams right now and playing great.  Countless examples in all sports, massive double standard going on for him.     So IMO, its all about media scrutiny. This one is on the radar that it becomes headline news and a bunch of BS to deal with for the team, thats why he's being blackballed imo.

Queto would've been a good vet to give a crack, has still been able to have some good stretches as he's aged. Too late now I guess.
