Glass half full...I think today begins a 9-4 run the next 13.  Not a really hot take, I know.  But honestly, I might be disappointed if that doesn't happen since the competition is pretty lacking in the next four series.....

If they can get back to more competitive ABs & putting pressure on the opponents that'll go a long way. On the offensive side I think that's vital for us, regardless of the level of competition. The kid replacing Contreras has done a pretty nice job in the minors throwing out base stealers. Don't care. Gotta run when the opportunity presents itself.

Now that he's leading off, If Turang is on base you have a guy following him who can be devastating hitting behind the runner.

I’m glad to see Yelich in LF tonight.

There have been suggestions that he would be a nearly full time DH because of his back issues, but doing that would limit their ability to field their best hitting lineup on a regular basis.

Yelich, Contreras, Hoskins, and Sanchez are 4 of the team’s 5 veteran hitters, and 3 of them are limited to DH, C, , and 1B. Yelich will be getting some off days and some starts as DH. But whenever he can play LF it opens up more possibilities for the rest of the lineup.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I'm absolutely loving Contreras gameplan so far. Donovan had a really good cut against a 1st pitch FB on the first pitch of the game and Contreras has had Myers mixing up his pitches so well since then.

There's one for the Bauers haters.

I do think Bauers would have gotten a lot less hate if he was consistently hitting in the 8 spot like today instead of 3rd/4th.

I realize drafting is a crap shoot, but it annoys me when the Brewers go against "consensus' and take players that arent rated highly by others.  Cardinals took Masyn Winn (rated 54th pre-draft)- the very next pick after the Brewers took lower rated Freddy Zamora. I guess there are slight differences between players rated 50-100

Draft ranking is irrelevant in the MLB draft.   There are far more variables at play than there is in the NBA or NFL.  You have to take into account did the team draft someone in a previous round who will be above slot?  Does the team need to save some money and take a player who will sign below slot with the current pick so the team is able to offer someone else over slot money.

Also teams tend to rank players differently based on if they are JUCO, college, or HS.  There are just way too many variables to say the team should draft someone based on the "consensus".

If Myers can get a bit better control he could be a solid #4 or #5 pitcher.

Kind of like Mike Fiers,  if he could keep the ball in the park,  he could also be around in the majors a long time
