I don’t think Misiorowski is a starter long-term, so I dropped him to 7.  I have Boeve at 4 because I love his bat and think he’ll add power to become an impact hitter.

I have 8, ‘23 draft-picks and 1, ‘24 IFA pick in my top 20. Just an incredible draft-class.

  1. Jeferson Quero
I love Quero's hitting and defence. Amazing prospect. I am starting to think though that we might trade him at some point. Contreras will catch with us until at least 2027 or more I think. Having Quero as a backup only would be stupid with his talent. Interesting to see how it develops
  2. Jacob Misiorowski
  3. Tyler Black
Struggled in the bigs for his cup of coffee but its a positive because he can now work on what we was attacked on. The question with Black, as usual, is the glove.
  4. Brock Wilken
Insane bat. Unfortunate injury but he is back on track. Hopefully he sticks at third.
  5. Robert Gasser
Excelled in the minors, now needs to prove himself in the bigs.
  6. Carlos F Rodriguez
Slow start but has been great in May. I want to see him continue to trend upwards. September call up maybe?
  7. Luis Lara
As Ive said elsewhere, I love everything about him but the lack of power concerns me. He will struggle to become a real contributor if he cant get the SLG over 360 consistently. I remain hopeful he will grow into his frame.
  8. Cooper Pratt
Great tools, could stick at short. Interesting guy that excites me. Needs to develop power.
  9. Eric Brown Jr
Really unfortunate injury. That is what keeps him down for me. Potential for something great but the injuries have not let him get there
  10. Josh Knoth
Has some insane stuff and has been tossing it good in Carolina. Next step is to strech him to a full starter's load.
  11. Yophery Rodriguez
I am always cautious of ranking guys from the rookie levels (Arizona or DR). I cant bring myself to trust the opinion of 5 guys who have seen him play consistently and hate having little to no film. That said, man the YROD hype is real. Super excited with him.
  12. Mike Boeve
Hitting breakout. What a kid with great pop. Im really excited
  13. Luke Adams
I do not love the early numbers from Wisconsin but too early to tell. I love the sneaky speed and decent power
  14. Eric Bitonti
  15. Logan Henderson
Should be back from injury soon. I need to see Henderson compete against better hitters. Feasted on the Carolina league and needs to show it now in Wisconsin. I do love the arm
  16. Juan Baez
Early struggles but the ACL numbers were great last year. Also need to tap into some power
  17. Daniel Guilarte
Finally living up to his name and reputation. Had struggled in the past but is really making some noise now. Love it!
  18. Bradley Blalock
I think he needs to be in Nashville soon. Is mowing down AA hitters and is already on the 40 man. Could be a candidate to fill into the rotation by September
  19. Dylan O'Rae
  20. Wes Clarke
Should be in AAA. Gives me El Gary vibes. Big time power, competent backup, can play first. Needs to cutdown the strikeouts. The Quero/Clarke tandem will bring fear to pitchers everywhere.

Impossible to rank these guys. The top 12-ish are really solid for me, but after that there are so many guys that could be there. It might be too much of a hassle, but I would love to have a Top 30. Guys that just missed out for me:

21- Yujanyer Herrera- Has looked really good thus far

22- Eric Bitonti- I still think highly of him. Just not sure he is a top 20 guy

23- Patricio Aquino- Rough start to 2024 but I am a fan of his work last year

24- Dylan O'Rae- Ive said elsewhere, I like the hit and speed but the power worries me

25- Shane Smith- Electric guy

26- Tayden Hall- Breakout in Australia and has carried into this year. Lets see how he does

27- Coleman Crow- Cost us Taylor and Houser so this is more of a "well he was expensive so he must be good"

28- Ryan Birchard- The stuff looks really good and has played well in a miniscule sample

29- Bishop Letson- Has also looked great. High walk rates to start the year but we'll see.

30- Tyler Woessner- Is having a solid year but struggles in AAA. I am hopeful he will figure it out

31- Alexander Cornielle- I am loving the bounceback

32-37 Pedro Ibarguen, Demetrio Nadal, Tobias Myers, Evan McKendry, Ernesto Martinez (wild to see him in CF), Filipo di Turi

38- Freddy Zamora- This man puzzles me. Tore up the lower minors and had a solid year in 2023 but is now struggling. He can be a world beater or hit like Winker in the playoffs. And defensively he will make insane plays but mess up the routine ones. Wierd guy.

39-50 Noah Campbell, , TJ Shook, Nate Pearson, Adam Seminaris,  Will Childers, Russell Smith, Satchell Norman, Edwin Jimenez, Will Rudy, Mark Manfredi, Enniel Cortez, Edgardo Ordonez

51- 60 Melvin Hernandez, Aaron Rund, , Gregory Barrios, Kay-Lan Nicasia, Blayberg Diaz, Morris Austin, Daniel Corniel, Yorman Galindez, Brayden Root, Justin Yeager

Honourable mentions for guys performing well but who I think are no longer prospects- Brewer Hicklen, Isaac Collins, Enoli Paredes, Darrell Thompson, Sam Gardner

The graduations and Quero's injury make him No. 1 by default. Would still like to see him cut the walks obviously.
  2. Jeferson Quero
Not going to drop him any further than this. If the shoulder is fine long term still think he is a top-tier catching prospect.
  3. Robert Gasser
Overreaction to shutting down a middling Cardinals lineup? Perhaps, but I can't justify slotting anyone else in above him after that start.
  4. Brock Wilken
Injuries have prevented him from rising any higher.
  5. Tyler Black
The inability to establish a defensive home is limiting his upside.
  6. Cooper Pratt
6-11 are close, but I'll give Pratt the nod here.
  7. Josh Knoth
Solid start for a very young A-baller
  8. Carlos F Rodriguez
Seems to have righted the ship. Hopefully this is the form he shows going forward rather than the early-season struggles.
  9. Yophery Rodriguez
Exciting talent, but needs to cut down on the K's
  10. Luis Lara
Bat has a bit of catch-up to do, but really young for his league and seems to already basically be there defensively.
  11. Mike Boeve
Last time I said he had a "check back in double-A" profile. Well ... checks ... yep, he belongs in this tier.
  12. Bradley Blalock
Brewers saw fit to add him to the 40-man and has been solid if not overpowering so far this season.
  13. Luke Adams
Production is still there but so are some of the same concerns.
  14. Logan Henderson
He's probably a top-12 talent, but in order to prove it he actually needs to stay on the diamond.
  15. Gregory Barrios
Even during his struggles last season, the Brewers consistently treated him like a legit prospect. Turns out they might be on to something.
  16. Filippo Di Turi
Hottest hitter among the top Brewers ACL prospects so far.
  17. Ryan Birchard
This goes against my theme of filling the bottom of the top-20 pitching spots with upper level arms, but I am buying the preseason hype.
  18. Brett Wichrowski
Big time velocity, and the team seems to be treating him like a significant prospect
  19. Tobias Myers
It feels like there is a Big League role for him, even if it ends up being in the bullpen.
  20. Tyler Woessner
Hopefully Tuesday's start is a sign he is figuring out triple-A.

Thoughts: Eric Brown Jr. got dinged a bit for availability. Otherwise for spots 15-20 I chose shortstops over second and third basemen and (with the exception of Birchard) upper-level starting pitchers over relievers or lower-level starters.

Rest of the players who received significant consideration, in alphabetical order: Jadher Areinamo, Juan Baez, Eric Bitonti, Eric Brown Jr., Wes Clarke, Oliver Dunn, Bishop Letson, Ernesto Martinez, Dylan O'Rae, Jorge Quintana, Jesus Rivero, Manuel Rodriguez, Russell Smith, Shane Smith, Craig Yoho.

Rest of the top 50 in alphabetical order: Luiyin Alastre, Patricio Aquino, Isaac Collins, Daniel Corniel, Alexander Cornielle, Enniel Cortez, Coleman Crow, Yorman Galindez, Daniel Guilarte, Yujanyer Herrera, Quinton Low, Mark Manfredi, Yerlin Rodriguez, TJ Shook, Justin Yeager

As others have said, this is a really difficult undertaking. Lots of good players that I believe will one day earn WAR in the big leagues. It's hard to parse out the criteria. Age, floor, ceiling, personal-preference/scouts/rankings. I tried to not make it about my "favorite" prospects, as many of them I left out. I also had a hard time with guys that are or were recently injured (e.g. Quero/Blalock/Henderson) or guys with limited defensive utility (e.g. Black/Clarke), or guys that just don't seem to have much physical projection (e.g. most of the Latin infielders).

In addition, I don't watch these guys, I only follow boxscores/stats/scouting reports, so I, unlike a guy like Zarr, can't justify strong opinions on the vagaries of scouting, such as infielder's arms/gloves/feet.

The young pitchers coming up were also really difficult. There is some serious pitching depth throughout the system, both SPs and RPs.

If my math is correct, Guilarte got the last spot in a tiebreak over Barrios with Wes Clarke one point behind. O'Rae, Letson and Myers were the others who got at least 20 points. Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference, but in even the couple of days that the voting took, it seemed like Barrios and Wichrowski were trending upward with those who voted late while Baez and Guilarte were more popular early, assuming the order in the thread is the order they were submitted. I counted 36 players getting votes, with 31 accumulating at least 10 points.

There are also writer votes to consider, which are not tracked in the thread. But yeah, the voting period was open for longer than normal and it wouldn't be surprising if the early votes were markedly different than later votes.

Yah, I was just going off the first post in the thread, which said it was just these votes, not the final version that included the writers’ votes.

There were a couple of results I found surprising, but the fact the 15-20 spots were pretty much all over the place was not among them.

Seems I messed up my rankings and missed it. My computer shut down in the middle of and I forgot to make the changes again. I had Bitonti and O'Rae out and Yoho at 20 and Wichrowski at 9. My bad

Should we start thinking of Flippo Di Turi in the same line of prospect as Yophery. Granted there is a big difference between the acl and A ball.

I think so. They paid a lot of Di Turi, too. Scouting reports suggest he projects to stay at short, great peripherals. He will of course need to show it at A-ball before we go too wild, but it looks promising.

With his hot streak were are we thinking Cooper Pratt will/would rank. I think 4 behind Misi, Black, Quero, Logan Henderson might be making a case for 5.

Angels, A’s and White Sox bottom three is pretty hilarious.

At least the Rockies & Marlins affiliates can win some games.

I’m probably overstating things, but most teams seem to view their minor league system as means for player development. The Angels sometimes act like they view theirs as a burdensome obligation.

Are we going to wait until the draft signing to do another one of these? I am thinking all 4 of the top picks end up in the 10-18 range.

Probably makes sense to just wait until after the picks sign and deadline.

It is going to be interesting. I could see all four ending up in there somewhere. I could see a massive vote split where none end up in the top 20.

Right now, I'd list the following non-draft-picks as having at least a 20% chance of ending up in the top 20:

Hitters: Jeferson Quero, Tyler Black, Brock Wilken, Mike Boeve, Luke Adams, Jadher Areinamo, Luis Lara, Cooper Pratt, Yophery Rodriguez, Filippo Di Turi, Eric Bitonti, Jesus Made, Luis Pena, Jose Anderson

Pitchers: Carlos Rodriguez, Jacob Misiorowski, Logan Henderson, Shane Smith, Brett Wichrowski, Craig Yoho, KC Hunt, Josh Knoth, Bishop Letson, Manuel Rodriguez.

That is 24. Plus you've got a bunch of guys who could garner at least a few votes or at least deserve some consideration:

Hitters: Brewer Hicklen, Isaac Collins, Oliver Dunn, Dylan O'Rae, Eric Brown, Juan Baez, Josh Adamczewski, Juan Ortuno

Pitchers: Bradley Blaylock, Coleman Crow, Tate Kuehner, Yujanyer Herrera, Alexander Cornielle, Daniel Corniel, Enniel Cortez, Ryan Birchard, Yorman Galindez, Hayden Robinson, a bunch of non-Yoho relievers.
