So what are everyone’s thoughts?

I assume most are thinking/ hoping that Mis will be the pitcher. Obviously Yoho also could be in the picture.

Seems like other dominos could fall too……with Milner ready to go out on rehab soon……Paredes……about ready…….Does Hall get the DH and then stay up?

What about the position player? I’m kind of hoping for a right handed stick like Hicklen instead of Black……since he can also run. Anyone else worth considering?

Based on the team X account's hyping of Mis today and Hogg's recent comments, I am now 99.9% certain the pitcher call-up is going to be him. Yoho would be great, but last night's outing, as uncharacteristic as it was for him, probably didn't do him any favors. Nevertheless, he's only one Wilson/Ross DFA or injury away.

Position player is more up in the air imo. Black homered last night, but still doesn't look like he's ready to translate to the majors with his poor QOC metrics. I think given he's already been called up by the team multiple times including just recently you'd have to consider him the favorite. Hicklen is certainly in the running as he's likewise on the 40 man. You'd feel less guilty about taking away regular playing time from him than you would Black, and he could fill a RHH 5th Ofer need. On the flip side of the coin, Hicklen has been ice cold in August and actually hits RHP much better than LHP.

Only other position players on the 40 man are an injured Quero, Yelich, and Dunn and then Capra. Capra is pretty redundant with Monasterio, however.

So my best guess is Mis and Black.

DL Hall and Hicklen.  Bringing up DL allows them to avoid using his last option this year, giving them one more year to option him.  Hicklen just makes more sense from roster construction reasons over Black. Another RH OF would be welcome to the roster.

Thinking it might be Misiorowski.  Perhaps Wilson is IL'd or DFA'd.  I expect a steady back and forth with Nashville throughout the month.  Hall, Pegeuro, Paredes, maybe even Herget and Yoho.

The position player will be Black.  Hicklen has been atrocious the past month.

I was curious what players in AAA have fared best against 95+mph pitches and yeah I was already lower on Hicklen than most and now I might be even lower.

Hicklen - .241 xwOBA, 38% whiff rate

Another really bad one is unfortunately Wes Clarke

Clarke - .189 xwOBA, 49% whiff rate

Why recall Hall tomorrow when he just pitched?  Wouldn't it make sense to get Herget or Jay for a few days, then recall Hall when he's actually ready to pitch?

Because he burns his last option year if he stays down past tomorrow.

Pretty sure they need to call him up tomorrow to save his last option year.

Doesn’t seem like they are confident enough in Mis to call him up this year……obviously not definitive but strong hints

Well if Mis keeps striking out the side on 10 pitches they may be forced to call him up.

With the Brewers seemingly locked in to their playoff positioning, I would love to see the team give Misiorowski and Yoho a look in the next week.

Neither are on the 40 man roster and there's not much reason to put them on now. I expect they'll both make their debut sometime next season but there's no reason to do it now. They must be close to the innings limit set for them as it is. Let them finish in a controlled setting with zero pressure and get set for next year.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

I would not expect rookies with no major league experience to do well in the playoffs.  Putting them on the roster now means DFA'ing someone who will likely perform better in the playoffs.

I'm torn on this one.  Common sense in me agrees with LE's statement above regarding rookies.  Another part of me wonders if the Brewers might have missed the boat on adding one of the guys and getting him a little regular season experience to add to the playoff roster as another serious bullpen weapon.  It feels like '15 Royals is the map to the promised land for this team.  I do trust the Brewers in knowing what's best though.

What do we know about Herget? Is anyone excited about this call up?

Out of 243 pitchers in the International League with at least 40 IP, Herget came in at…

2.46 FIP (2nd) | 2.27 ERA (8th) | 3.23 xFIP (3rd) | 5.36 K to BB ratio (4th) | 32.4 K% (15th) | 6.0 BB% (13th) | 0.38 HR9 (6th) | 0.94 WHIP (2nd)

Have to imagine in an organization with a less stacked bullpen he would’ve gotten more of an MLB look than the 8.2 low leverage IP over two brief call ups in May/June he’s gotten so far with the Brewers this year.

Believe he is mostly four seam / cutter with the change up as the out pitch.

You mean like the way Corbin Burnes scuffled out of the pen in September and October in 2018?

I don’t agree with that at all. Guys like Paredes and Milner are highly unlikely to make the playoff roster anyway. We’re not going to win a World Series by playing things conventionally.. Why not take the last week of meaningless baseball to see if we can catch lighting in a bottle?
