This is admittedly an inevitable thing with 24 games left, but the next win clinches a winning season. Easy to take it for granted from a September POV, but it was not a given from a March POV.

Not at all a given. Many predicted sub .500 year. I myself predicted 81-81 if I remember correctly.

You predicted 82, give yourself some credit.

Viva El Birdos was hi-larious yesterday. ZERO respect to what the Brewers have achieved, a belief that the Cards are just inherently better, downplaying pretty much every player, followed by a gradual emptying of the room to go "barbecue", as the game got out of hand. I will always love when the Cubs get beat, but when the Cards lose, it's, if anything, DELICIOUS!

I think I predicted something like 78, which was right in line with the projections on sites like Fangraphs.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

My preseason math was along the lines of...

Offense (+6 Wins): 92 wRC+ | -62.2 batting runs in 2023 up to average 100 wRC+ | 0.00 batting runs.

Rotation (-6 Wins) 15.8 rWAR in 2023 down to around 2018 (11.2 rWAR) or 2019 (9.9 rWAR) levels.

Bullpen (-6 Wins): +11.73 WPA in 2023 down to around 2021 (+5.90 WPA), 2018 (+5.65 WPA) or 2019 (+5.22 WPA) levels.

That essentially would have brought them in around 86 Wins which would make it their seventh straight full season winning at least that many games, one of only four teams over .500 every year of that stretch.

What we've gotten so far instead...

Offense: 107 wRC+ | 44.4 batting runs & counting.

Rotation: 11.0 rWAR with 4.5 of that coming in the 2nd half, the third highest post-ASB total in MLB.

Bullpen: +11.92 WPA, just no words.

I've never been more happy to be so wrong.

Seems they think Adames was in violation of The Cardinal Way, which as we all know is punishable by death. Hopefully Chris Carpenter will be able to find the words to explain this to his kids.

As a fan who grew up on the ‘90s Brewers and went to too many games in the early ‘00s, there is always something special about seeing win #81 and then #82 and knowing that they won’t have a losing record.

The indignation from fans who idolized "home run watcher supreme", Albert Pujols, at anyone daring not to sprint out of the box, is laughable.

I hope Adames hits another 3 run homer, breaks Junior's MLB record, surpasses 100 RBI for the season and full on Simone Biles-es it around the bases!

Hell there were years when I was glad to see win number 63 because it meant you weren't going to lose 100.

Hell, they get worked up over untucking jerseys.

Phillies gave up 6 runs to the Blue Jays in the 1st.

That is good for us and a bye if we win today.
