The way I view it is the original picks are the all-stars. I view the replacements as playing in the all-star game not all-stars themselves. When all the replacements are made it feels like half the league is an all-star. Nothing against Mizz, I think he's going to be there on his own merits soon. I just think the idea of an all-star gets diluted when the replacement is considered the same as the original.

Do we get a draft pick if he wins ROTY?

When I googled:

Additionally, the Prospect Promotion Incentive (PPI) further encourages teams to promote their top prospects early. If a highly-rated prospect (ranked in the top 100 by at least two of the three major publications: MLB Pipeline, Baseball America, and/or ESPN) is on the Opening Day roster and wins ROY (or places in the top three in MVP or Cy Young voting) before qualifying for arbitration, the team receives a bonus draft pick after the first round.

He wasn't on our opening day roster.

You don't technically need to be on the opening day roster. You just need to be up within the first 15 days. Either way Misiorowski isn't eligible to get us a PPI pick

I'll take half a season of Miz and the extra year of control over a draft pick any day.

Except if he wins ROY we lose the extra year of control and don't get a draft pick.

Unless I'm missing something from the last CBA he still needs 6 full years of service time. He won't have that for six years past this season.

A PPI eligible player who finishes first or second in the ROY voting automatically gets a full year of MLB service time, regardless of call up date.  So we'd only have him under control for five more seasons.

According to Google the commissioner’s office.  Not sure the validity of that.

Used to be manager, but that changed in 2017 to eliminate bias.

Who picks the replacements for injured players or those who decline to participate?

If a fan-elected starter is unable to play, they are replaced in the starting lineup by the player on the roster who received the next most votes on the player ballot at their position. The roster replacement is then chosen by the league.

If a player-elected reserve position player must be replaced, the next in line on the player ballot becomes a reserve, unless the leaders of the player ballot have already been accounted for. If the top finishers on the player ballot are already All-Stars, then MLB can select another replacement.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

A million players in every league bow out of this game because they are tired, want to catch up on Netflix or whatever. You don't get to be surprised by something like this when you make a tradition of doing that. The players have played a huge role in making this game illegitimate by their standards. The league is trying to make it the exhibition it's supposed to be. TLDR: Get over it.

I'm not a big fan of the chaos this is causing, he was asked and said yes. Chaos is never good, I just hope he doesn't end up taking heat like Josh Hader did after his All Star appearance, even though it is a completely different set of circumstances.

MLB fans: “MLB is terrible at marketing its star players”

MLB: makes the hottest young pitcher in the game an all-star

MLB fans: “Noooo he’s so undeserving, put my team’s above-average pitcher in instead.”

Yes all ego and arrogance by fans/media/players.

I believe the Brewers have accepted him into the clubhouse and are happy for him.  I wonder what type of reception he is going to get at the ASG by the players.  Like some MLB players have said, it is not Misiorowski's "fault."  What is said to the media is often times not what happens behind closed doors... 😉

So its the MLB's fault then not Miso's. He was asked and said yes and I hope he doesn't end up like Josh Hader after his All Star appearance.

Where did I assign blame to anyone? All I said was I don't view any of the ones who took over for an all-star as an all-star. I was expressing my personal opinion. It has nothing to do with who's fault it is. It has nothing to do with it being a problem that needs to be blamed on anyone at all for that matter.

Miz’s asking price is probably eight figures higher than it was two months ago 🙂

I don't mind the chaos honestly. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, he'll be just fine. I personally am enjoying all the tears from the crybaby cubs and phillies players/fans. Keep them coming, it's a mere appetizer to the ones we'll get in October when we're playing baseball and their fans shift their hopes for success to the hopeless Caleb Williams.

I've been a bit on the fence with the whole Miz thing, but if this is true, then I mean, come on...

Quote

– If Milwaukee Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski can make the All-Star Game after only five starts, will there be a day where a player who has yet to play his first game in the major leagues be far behind, based on his minor league stats?

MLB officials actually reached out to about a dozen pitchers looking for a replacement for the All-Star Game until Misiorowski agreed on Friday.

Yeah. Which is the worst look for MLB?

1. A flame-throwing all-star who has only pitched five times

2. Announcing and then replacing 12 consecutive players

3. A flame-throwing all-star who has only pitched five times, and then having it come out that star players don't really want to play in the all star game.

Good for Miz. I hope he pitches an immaculate inning.

A side note, during his media session, I think a Japanese writer asked if he was excited about the possibility of facing Ohtani tomorrow. Note to that writer, the Brewers have been in the NL for longer than Ohtani has...
