If we agree that Brewers are number one seed as of today then how can the 14 teams behind you make moves and you still feel good? It's pretty amazing.

Imagine being a twins fan today?

But they showed they really wanted to win by giving out a terrible contract to Correa, they wanted it though!!

Because they were worse than the Brewers and may still be worse tomorrow?

This is why Brewers fans are the best. Incredible.

Very weird deadline for Milwaukee. But also not weird at all for the Brewers. Wonder if we ever see this team spend considerable prospect capital again at the deadline.

Soroka and Castro surely will put the Cubs over the top.

And what if they do?

What if scrap heap pickups Joc Pederson, Jorge Soler, Eddie Rosario, and Adam Duvall carry the fringe Braves all the way to a World Championship?

Would you be happy if the Brewers got Willie Castro and some bullpen guy? Just trying to see what your expectations are.

I understand people want to make a move for the sake of making a move.

Two things can be true at once. It would be malpractice to pay the going trade rates on most of these players.

And watching this version of Joey Ortiz take meaningful at bats down the stretch for one of the winningest Brewers teams of all time is really brutal.

If they don’t trade one of the veteran starters, they probably plan to fill that last bullpen spot internally, so I am not worried there. I did think they would upgrade more than one of the bench spots, though.

Nobody is saying that.

But in varying degrees the Cubs, Phils, Mets, Padres, and Reds have all made moves to firm up their rosters. And the Dodgers can improve just by getting guys off the IL to add to their roster that already has 3 future HOF players.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Big 20 minutes………still think they aren’t content at left side of infield.  Especially for depth.  If Durbin/Ortiz gets hurt, figure on one happening, what is going to happen?

Last time they spent considerable prospect capital was over 7 years ago when they acquired Yelich.  I guess you could say they are due for a big one but this regime holds onto to their prospects pretty tight.

Andrew Vaughn

I didn't know Vaughn made the Brewers roster unimprovable to the degree that they'd punt on the last day to make roster upgrades via the same avenue that every other current playoff team in their league did today
