That's who I'm thinking. As I recall, he pitched well against us in Chicago last time.

Unless they want to get nuts and go bullpen - but Taillon should be the starter.  Greg probably took him out at least 2 innings too early in their game 3 against the Padres, so he's more than rested.

You'd think they have to go with a righty starter to change things up, too.

Was at the game. Brewers fans are hungry.

The energy after the Vaughn homer was bonkers.

Cubs fans thought they were loud after the game 1 homer and after the three run first tonight.

They weren't.

I know top of the 1st inning didn't go well, but I thought the decision to go with Ashby was master class, and I didn't see it coming. What uglied it up was the walk to Tucker L on L, that can't happen. Ashby throws strikes there & gets to two outs w/a man on, I'm not so sure Suzuki gets anything he can hit out of the park. As it was, the team seems to be sitting pretty w/Priester & Quintana yet to be used & you can assume the pen fully loaded going into Wednesday save for Misiorowski.

I have never been more mad about a ball than the second pitch to Tucker after he fouled it off his foot and Ashby missed the zone by a foot

I'm not advocating for it, but... wouldn't that be Misiorwoski's BP day?

I mean, to be clear, I'm happy with what he's given us this series, but... he could throw an inning if we NEEDED it.

I don't trust him like that yet, but... just hypothetically.

The actual home fans have shown up, brought It, whatever phrase you prefer.

it’s absolutely marvelous.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

That game was a ton of fun.
Guys near us in the stairwell after the game were chanting "P-C-K! P-C-K!"

In retrospect with the long layoff and off days, going full bullpen this game was brilliant - they needed work anyway and you don't have a game tomorrow, so almost everyone's available on Wed.

As already noted, Quinn may well be pitching with the wind blowing in. Hats off to Murph.

The fact Busch only got 2 AB today and one was against Koenig was great management from the Brewers. Cubs hottest hitter and you basically neutralized him with a bullpen game.

Counsell is such a douche. I wasn't too upset when that all went down, I understood it, but the way he acts and talks since then has made him so unlikeable. I actually think his legacy may be worse if the Brewers do win a championship this year. It's hard to see a scenario in which people are applauding him during some reunion ceremony. I'm sure they will down the line, but the guy can stay in Illinois for all I care.

screw him!

he "choo-choo-choosed" to go to a worse team for more money while acting like it was an altruistic choice.

seeing him manage for another team has made me totally rethink about his time here and how "good" he actually was. pat seems like one of guys. just another teammate. counsell is like a caged animal walking around in circles while everyone else is walking on eggshells

Love this from MLB.com:

But the Brewers needed more than velocity; they needed outs on a night that was planned as a bullpen game all along, despite right-hander Quinn Priester getting loose in the bullpen and on the field while Ashby did his own pregame warmups.

The idea was first proposed to him at 3:30 p.m. CT. Priester would go out to the bullpen to warm up alongside Ashby so the Cubs would think he was the “bulk” man for the day. But the Brewers planned a bullpen game all the way, with Nick Mears slated to put out the first fire and then Misiorowski to take a clean inning and go something like 30-50 pitches.

Whether Priester’s decoy made any difference in the way the game unfolded was debatable at best. But he sure enjoyed it.

“Did they say already that it was a total deke?” Priester asked a reporter. “Or did you just know, because it’s a total Brewers thing to do. I didn’t care. I thought, ‘If this is going to help us one percent, or help us on one at-bat or one pitch, why not?'

“I wasn’t pitching today, so if that’s one way I can help us win, screw it. I’ll do whatever.”

They throw a lot numbers and stats on the screen, but the one that caught my eye was this being the 55th post-season game in club history.  I would have guessed thirties, given the the 26-year drought.

Caught the guy behind the Cubs' dugout wearing a "bambi bombers" T-shirt.  I had the exact same shirt, but faded 40 years ago.  How did he keep it looking so new?
