Dodgers (Snell) vs. Brewers (Ashby): NLCS Game One Thread - 10/13/2025 @ 7:08PM

1)Ashby/Priester 2)Peralta 3)Patrick/Misi 4)Bullpen (Quintana if need bulk innings 5) Ashby/Priester 6)Peralta 7)Patrick/Misi/Q (all hands on deck)

I think a big thing in the 7 game series is to not overuse the same relievers. If the same part of the lineup sees a guy 4 or 5 times it gets rough to fool anyone.

The last time or two I've seen Snell he seemed to be throwing the ball really well & locating. It'll be tough if that continues.

I like the idea of a LH opener, then Priester. As long as if it's Quintana, he's still available to start in LA which should be no problem.

IMO this is going to be a real tough series to win. They've won ten of their last eleven going back to the tail end of the regular season, and Muncy & Smith seem to have settled back in. But I do like the mojo of having handled them 6-0, having the home field, yet being able to (in a lot of minds at least) play the underdog card. Be loose & have fun with it.

I hope we start Priester and Peralta in the first 2 games. Also I hope Lockridge and Gasser are gone and replaced with Hall and Zastrynski. Ashby is overworked and the Brewers need at least 4 lefties.

Yeah. the WS has gone 2-3-2 since way back before divisional play. No problem with that.

It’s also, only recently that the 4 games went to the team with a better record. For over a century they simply alternated leagues except for the brief period of using the winner of the All Star Game.

I'm with you here on both accounts except I'd take Hall and Myers. Myers length will be needed at some point I think.

They can clinch at home in Game 4 or Game 5!

We can clinch at home in Game 6 or Game 7!

Is that an advantage for us?

Let me think about that.

2-3-2 is fine. Take one game at home and one on the road and at least you give yourself a chance to finish back at home.

Although I obviously hope we can do better than that.

If we lose this series in 4 or 5 games then it wasn’t because of the format.

House money from here on out imo.  Not surprised the Dodgers are favored.  I suspect Murphy wouldn't have it any other way.

I don’t expect Dodger Stadium to be as tough psychologically as Wrigley Field. Dodger Stadium is more of a Hollywood vibe with casual fans rather than a hardcore baseball environment.

Not that it won’t still be a hard place to win but more just because the Dodgers are very good rather than from the fan factor.

How about Hall, Myers and Z and remove Gasser, Anderson and Lockridge?

Hope to see "Good Priester" tonight since were on our home turf, maybe Q will be the opener since he is the vet with more emotional regulation.

I get being leery of 2-3-2 because it does put some pressure on you to go up 2-0. We very nearly did that in 2018 but Jeffress had a bad outing. Game 4 was the backbreaker. We were up 2-1 and going for 3-1 but lost in the 13th. The home field wasn't much of an advantage that time around.

But I agree this isn't going to be decided by the format. I just prefer having home field because I think it's somewhat likely we get clinching chances in 6/7 and I have tickets.

Prefer Quintana over Priester to start to face Ohtani and Freeman early. Ideally you’d like to get past Freeman the second time through with Quintana and then go to Priester. Both Ohtani and Freeman are otherworldly against RHP and “only” very good against LHP.

With that said I understand we won’t be able to platoon matchup on every AB, so we will see what they do. Other than those two the Dodgers are pretty RH heavy in the lineup.

Which is why I’d prefer carrying 13 pitchers this time especially with the overall lack of days off compared to the NLDS. Considering we usually go with a defense heavy lineup anyway, there isn’t a major reason for a deep bench. Need Jansen obviously, Bauers, Mona, and Collins would be my last guy on the bench.

Us sweeping the Dodgers in the regular season months ago doesn't mean anything to me. We caught them twice going through rough patches not playing well...they are now. And are more healthy. And they are just a team that finds it in the post season.

I still think we can beat them, it's just going to be tough.

I think we've played pretty good in LA over the years, it won't be cold like Chicago. Yeli and Braun always seemed to hit well there. Yeli lives out there right so he can stay in his own house probably and be relaxed and mash.

I like seeing those power rankings, I love STILL no one expects us to do anything. It's great motivation for the guys that has fueled them all year.

I think we definitely have a chance to win.

If I had to bet my life savings on it, my bet would be that at the end of this series, I will be bemoaning the major unfair advantage in baseball that large market teams like the Dodgers have over small markets like us, like I am at the end of most seasons.

No matter what happens in this series, it won’t be nearly as disappointing as it would have been to drop the NLDS to the Cubs.

So after all that talk by MLB Network about starting to give the Brewers their due respect...

If you rate the Dodgers as first, then you have to rate the Brewers fourth, don't you? I mean, if I say the Dodgers will win the World Series, that means the Brewers have the worst chance because they are guaranteed to play the team I picked to win.

THIS

For every game in the Cubs series, I was on pins and needles all damn day.  Just nervous and kind of anxious.

Today I woke up calm and just looking forward to tonight's game.  Not that I don't want to win in the worst way, it's just a completely different feeling.

I could not have accepted losing that series to Counsell and the Cubbies, but I will be able to take whatever happens in the Dodger series, and it won't effect my life if we end up on the short side.

This Dodger lineup isn’t that much different than the one we swept in the regular season.

Their starting pitching is in much better shape though.

The MLB is all about city population size, $ payrolls $, revenue generation $ and ratings $ so that order would make complete sense. Its been that way ever since I can remember.

Fair point, I think.

Easier said than done because they both have great stuff...but make them throw strikes and grind at bats.  One of several things Dodgers pitching is great at is giving up walks in bunches.

One of the keys to our offense will be taking walks and forcing the SPs out early in the game.  If LA can't get 5-6 IP from their starters, we gain a huge advantage on their BP.

The difference (IMO) between Chicago and LA will be the temperatures.  I don't think our team (or at least several key members) don't play well in colder temps.  I say that mainly based on our early season performance. For example, Chourio has two MLB years and both springs have been pretty poor for him.

It's the calm before the storm right now. If we pick up some wins early in the series and can start to taste the pennant, it's going to be intense.

The national commentators can babble on all they want but these teams are closely matched in overall talent despite different strengths/weaknesses.

When it comes down to the moments that matter I think our guys are going to want it more.

Brewers in 7.

Agreed. There will not be as much pressure in the Dodgers games, but they have a much better lineup. The pressures in the Cubs series came from many directions, and they were intense.
