If there is a lock-out, doesn't that mean that the minor league teams are also locked out?

Only 40 man rosters are locked if I'm not mistaken. Minor leagues should play.

Nope. Only applies to guys on the 40-man. So I believe Adams and Wilken would be potential call ups due to having to be added. I doubt we burn that option for guys we don’t have to.

They traded a player whose absence makes the 2026 team worse, for 2 players who may or may not help them this year.

When they traded Corbin Burnes it made the 2024 Brewers worse, and they still won 93 games and the division.

The Brewers will always be in the position of having to make tough choices that make their next season worse to hopefully make the 3-5 season after that better. Just the way it is, and the main reason they haven’t had to rebuild since 2016.

Pulling from most recent prospect rankings I could find...

  • Baseball America- Mets rank Jett #3 (71), Sproat Mets rank #4 (81)
  • MLB Pipeline- Mets rank Jett #3 (30), Sproat Mets #5 (not top 100)
  • Keith Law- Jett 18, Sproat NR
  • Baseball Prospectus- Mets rank Jett #5, Sproat #8
  • Fangraphs- Mets Rank Jett #6 (69), Sproat Mets rank #1 (51)
  • ESPN- Mets rank Jett #1 (18), Sproat Mets rank #6 (83)

I'm guessing that's 18th in all of baseball for Keith Law?

I'm shocked that people are saying we have pitching depth so who cares about Myers. Woodruff Henderson and Gasser are injury questions. Miz is still a question mark imo. Basically it's Priester and Patrick and pray for rain right now. Sproat strikes me as Collin Rae. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, I'm super concerned about our starting pitching. Priester feels like only reliable pitcher health wise. We're gonna burn through a lot of guys.

I expect the team to add at least one innings eater vet starter.

Sproat sits 95-98. Hits 100. Colin Rea might not be the best comp?

Lots of interesting guys still available. I suspect they will wait it out and pick one of them up like Quintana last year.

This definitely helps me look big picture but still disappointed.

I would hope if the system is that strong you can package a few for a big league player or two. Robert deal the Mets did is what I'm talking about.

Maybe that’s the cautionary tale. DL Hall with injuries and diminished velocity is shaping up to be a bust, and almost everyone wants to dump Ortiz after he was the worst hitter in the NL.  2 years later those players haven’t definitively made the Brewers better.

I’m not at all concerned about our pitching depth……..guys will get hurt from time to time ……but we have lots of guys…….Myers wasn’t going to be a starter for us next season unless things went terribly wrong…..and if that happens Myers wasn’t going to fix that.

Arnold said tonight they wouldn’t have traded Freddy if they weren’t confident in Woody next season……..

Well, there are no guarantees. No one felt this way about Joey after his first year, he looked like he made it worth it himself after one year, and then he regressed.

But Burnes would not be on this roster now regardless.

We are still getting contributions from those guys long after Burnes is gone and injured after his huge contract.

i don’t view either guy as a bust…..Joey is a great defender who didn’t hit last season…..Hall has been injured but still shows potential and is under control for a few more seasons.

You could read this as we were thinking Woody wouldn't except qualifying offer once he did Mark said umm hello? You can't have two good starters.

Not mad at all. Just being honest. Brewers are not as good today as they were yesterday. Sorry for caring about winning now.

It does suck to lose Freddy. Many fanbases are celebrating their additions and we’re talking about the subtraction of our #1 starter.

That said…trade Burnes, win 93 and 97 in the following two seasons.

Now our farm system is arguably #1 in MLB.

Small markets aren’t supposed to be able to maintain success like this. I wouldn’t bet against us to win the NL Central again this year.

What I would like to see is for us to use our prospect capital to make a good deadline addition.

Fans are going to make a mistake if they think Williams is just another short guy who can't hit for power. He sure knows how to lift the ball in the minor leagues. His swing is a lot like Luis Pena's.
