The initial Hader and Williams trades weren’t the flashiest but the secondary trades are looking like some of Arnold’s best work. Ruiz netted us Contreras and Payamps. Durbin and two MiLB FA signings netted us Harrison, Drohan, and Hamilton.

The Ruiz trade made no sense (in our favor) at the time, I remember most of us being flabbergasted at the time and thinking we must be giving up more, and it looks even more lopsided in hindsight.

I still cannot understand how we got Contreras plus (Payamps?) for Ruiz. Seemed like the deal was primarily between the Braves and A’s and we somehow snuck in there and grabbed a couple things.

Contreras and Gasser are still products of the original JJ Hardy trade tree.

Which would have possibly ended at Zach Wheeler if the Mets didn’t back out of the Carlos Gomez trade.

I still kinda believe that in a world where Williams is DFA'd and is in Milwaukee next week, he's back close to where he was with the Brewers. I don't think he should ever be a closer though.

Reading through the knee jerk reactions on this one was fun. Trading away comfort for the unknown is polarizing.

This front office has done so well trading nickels for dimes but the Zerpa deal will leave just enough doubt that next off season when we trade Megill or Vaughn or whomever else we deem has surplus value or is a regression candidate ... we will go through this all over again.

Williams had four consecutive games in April where he gave up earned runs but in his other 15 appearances he's got an era of 0.00. He has been fine.

Remember when some people were upset when the Cubs signed Bregman?

Bregman choosing the Cubs over the Red Sox got us Harrison and Drojan……..one doesn’t happen without the other.

Every time I think I couldn't love this trade more, Harrison pitches again and I love it more.

At this point we should just pencil Arnold's name in as the exec of the year until he proves he doesn't deserve it.

My only concern with this trade is that the more lopsided it becomes the less likely other teams will be to trade with us!

Tongue in cheek conspiracy theory: maybe we just throw teams a Collins plus Mears for Zerpa from time to time to keep them coming back to the table.

That doesn't mean a whole lot when your outings are 1 inning. He was 0 ER in 51 of 67 appearances last year. That put him at 4.79 for the year and he's 4.60 now. In fact, that's pretty much exactly what he's been the last couple years. Fine when he's fine, and then has a week where he's useless. I don't think that's 'fine' given what his role is.

He is not going to be DFAd. Not anytime soon anyways.

Well yeah, obviously not. It was a hypothetical that he's one of those guys that I don't think is capable of MKE success outside of MKE.

Its not really just Williams for those 4 guys.. its 1 year of williams for like 15+ years of those guys
