I would expect that Drohan (Woodford if a bigger lead one way or the other) works a couple innings today just help the bullpen recover today.

Should be a good one, I watched a bit of the Red Sox broadcast after the game ended and slightly sadistic way loved how down the tone of the broadcaster was. If we could best Crochet today head might start flying in Boston soon.

Keep an eye out for Wilson Contreras today. He threatened the team that, ‘“I’m going to take one of them out.” He has been HBP 131 times in his career and 24 times by Brewer pitchers. He’s had it with our team.

How was Willson Contreras allowed to stay in the game last night after that slide and how has MLB not suspended him yet for those comments after the game? Or is this just the world we live in now? He's just being a "man".

He's had it with the Brewers for years - and quite frankly I don't think there's anyone in the organization that cares....even his little brother.  It's no surprise to me that among the NL Central clubs that Contreras would've gotten the majority of his career plate appearances against since he's spent most of his career playing in that division, the Brewers have held him to the lowest OPS.  The Brewers have faced him the most, so they've hit him the most.  You need to pitch a hitter inside who essentially sets up in the box with his hands on the inside corner - and that isn't just inside strikes because that is Contreras' happy zone.  If he doesn't get himself out of the way on pitches in off the plate, getting hit is his problem.

No, he's being a petulant child

We have such a good thing going.. Ignore the child screaming for attention. Let him go 1-3 with a walk today and ignore his stare downs. We have bigger things to concern ourselves with.

I am never one to want to see a player get hurt, but that slide was clearly malicious. David Hamilton is still trying to establish his career, while Willson Contreras has already been well-compensated for his time. That kind of bush league play is exactly how you end someone's season with a knee injury or worse. It has no place in the game. I want him to wear 99 MPH from Abner to the ribcage. From that post-game interview he's all about sending messages. So now it is time to reply.

Here's a thought Willson. If you don't want to get "hit" maybe don't set up directly on top of the plate. What a crybaby.

Not sure you can just ignore how dirty that slide was. We'll see if cooler heads prevail. I know I wouldn't ignore it. You got to protect your guys. But you also need to be smart.

I want to beam him so bad but we're 8-2 and they are 2-8.

Finish the sweep and then we never have to think about the Red Sox again this year.

If we didn't have pennant aspirations I would want the entertainment too. The last thing we need though is Abner actually connecting with a right hand and busting a finger or something dumb. If we let him draw us into a fight it will be the highlight of his season. We have bigger things to worry about.

Plus the pen is already short handed ... can't handle suspensions now either.

Very true I guess I am stuck on the old school mentality of protecting your guys.

Maybe we’ll see Willson vs. William tonight…..a Civil War lol.

So this part I would bend on in real time probably. I was mildly surprised no one challenged him after he hurt Hamilton yesterday.

I don't love the premeditated stuff really at all, but if he goes after someone today I hope our guys would defend whomever that is.

The three guys on MLB network had some comically bad takes on the incident.  All saying how that was a good slide as if its still 1985. In today's baseball that is clearly wrong.   They even went as far as to blame Hamilton for not getting out of the way since he should've known Contreras is crazy.

I guess for the most part though, they did acknowledge a guy standing on top of the plate diving over the plate with his hands should know they're going to get hit a lot.  I mean, the guy where's elbow pads and hand pads for a reason

This generation's Boston fans are typically pretty defiant against sliding with spikes up. Machado more or less started the end of Pedroia's career by spiking him. I can't imagine many Boston fans would defend Contreras' actions yesterday...

Willllllson booked it off the field like his pants were on fire.  I don't think anyone knew Hamilton was hurt until Willson was barking from the dugout.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

And nobody has hit him more than Woodruff either. Roughly 20% of the time. I'm actually ok with him for being upset with Woody/Brewers but his BS slide is totally unforgiveable.

If he crowds the plate, he should expect to get hit and take it like Don Baylor.  It's not against the rules to pitch inside, and if you are going for the inside corner, you are better off missing inside than out over the plate.   Or he can learn to hit the up and in ball better so pitchers will attack somewhere else.

Also, even if the Brewers don't go after him, William should pound the glove behind Wilson's head every pitch.
