Ahhh, remember the good old days of fearing every LHP on the slate? Even wondering aloud why teams don't just call up some scrub lefty starter from AAA for an easy win?

Well, the Brewers hit for a 107 wRC+ (9th) last year against LHP en route to an MLB best 29 W - 18 L record versus lefty starters.

So far this year? A below average 97 wRC+ (18th) against LHP, but a 15 W - 5 L record against southpaw starters that is tied for the best in MLB including a ten game winning streak since Vaughn and Chourio returned to the lineup.

Might be overdue for a loss, or maybe they'll add another win to their MLB best 27 W - 13 L record against teams at .500 or better so far this year.

Someone beat me to it - Yoho is in the pen, too. Gotta think they'll need him and Rom to put in some work to get us through 7, assuming it's a competitive game.

Hopefully we can get 5-6 innings from Drohan (he’s gone at least 5 in his last two starts). Would be nice to use some of the B bullpen today and have the A pen a little more rested for the Atlanta series.

bit of a Sunday line up today, but we are already spoiled with how many games Contreras plays. Between Perkins, Mitchell, and Frelick against a lefty I can’t complain too much that Perkins got the call.

i'm all for giving Contreras a day off here and there, but it's odd it's coming vs a LHP.

I'd rather start him today than Yelich.

He did take that foul tip off his finger last night which seemed to bother him at the time, so hopefully just a precaution to rest that.

I don't know the answer but maybe the thinking is they want him starting every game against the Braves so it was either today for a day off or it would have to wait until Monday? A lefty on the mound is favorable to play Sanchez ... so today makes sense in that regard I guess.

yeah but starting Sanchez at catcher and Contreras at DH would have given him a rest behind home plate but still a way to get his bat in the lineup.

I don't disagree and I don't claim to have the answer. I assume Murphy differentiates between a full day off from baseball activity and a half day off from baseball activity, but I am just inferring.

I think complaining about Perkins playing at all is totally acceptable...

The fact he still has a roster spot at this point is amazing.

(hopefully the jinx is now in effect, and the guy goes 3 for 4, with a couple RBIs.)

Yeah, perfect time to give Yelich a day of rest, and have William DH.

I saw Tobias got blown up in his last start ... I haven't really been tracking him this year. I just saw his numbers 😢

I wonder how much leash/action he would have gotten here had he stayed given how the year has unfolded. He and Sproat have been a wash more or less.
