Cubs gotta be frustrated. We fell behind in every game, they had a really good series against the Twins and pounded them today and not only did they not make up any ground, they actually fell back a game.

I hope so.  Frustrating the Cubs and Cubs' fans by coming from behind to win is like winning twice.

The one thing about last years teams and this years is they don’t feel like they are ever out of a game.   They always seem to give themselves a chance late

I'd like to bring up the 6th inning. We've all been aware of the RISP thing; the runner on 3rd w/less than two out thing. There was improvement there on Saturday. And today, with the 2nd & 3rd and no one out, despite failing to score I thought those were two damn good at-bats. So perhaps that worm is starting to turn.

Henderson, Drohan, and Gasser. And they swept, despite the three arms Miami threw out there. That might be the biggest story of the series. Gasser had the bad day in Pittsburgh, but other than that & his start on the moon vs the A's he's been a model of consistency since the beginning of June.

It also looks like, once again, the organization sees something in a guy (Shewmake) that maybe some others don't. Don't know if he'll stick around post-Hamilton but he's versatile & he had a pretty solid weekend.

I think this is kind to Turang. I know he worked a 10 pitch AB but Perez was absolutely on the ropes and Turang gave him life by expanding the zone in a 2-0 count because he was trying to pull the ball for a HR and got fooled bad on a breaking ball. That chase is what gave Perez a lifeline to get out of the inning without allowing a run. Yes Turang battled when it got to 2-2 but I don't think that should go down as a good AB.

Fair enough. Yeah, Perez was on the ropes compared to his first five frames but I thought he was still throwing the ball more than well enough that I can't discount a 10-pitch AB by Turang there, especially when the count got to 2-2. But sure, you'd like for him to take better advantage of a 2-0 count.

That inning started leadoff walk, HBP, throwing error from Perez, and two pitches not even close to the zone to go behind 2-0 to Turang. He was most definitely not throwing the ball well until Turang give him a lifeline chasing 2-0. After that he did kick back in but he was most certainly on the ropes before that chase.

I don't remember the 2-0 as being an egregious chase; I'll take your word for it as I'm sure you aren't making it up. My throwing the ball well comment was referring to his velo & mix. Certainly he lost command for a stretch there. I'm putting a large amount of weight on Turang hanging around at 2-2 for a lengthy AB vs someone we hadn't come close to doing that against up until then.

It was well below the zone after the first two pitches weren't even close to the zone.

Not only did the Cubbies lose a Game on first place, but the sexy Crew pitching staff has now allowed 69 fewer runs. Seems significant.😉

Fun game. Weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Good crowd, into the game despite the Brewers a pretty pulseless team…until they weren’t. 
 

Esteury Ruiz and Wild Bill, involved in that three-team trade, both hitting HRs. 
 

and I caught a ball, had ice cream, good seats. The win made it great

the 2-0 chase by turang was impactful at the time and frustrating, but it's hard to blame him much for it. 

It was a good breaking ball that started in the strike zone and for a split second i'm sure looked like a juicy fastball to Turang. 

Hitting MLB pitching is tough, especially a stud like Perez. I don't blame Turang for that.

Luckily didn't matter in the end!
