I'm sure there is a copyright hoop or two they would have to jump through but this is the easiest $million the Brewers could make. Give Vaughn the rims, let him pitch. It will be on ESPN and reshared on IG and Tiktok within 24 hours everywhere and the Brewers can start selling Vaughn glasses. They would sell a bazillion of them.

It feels like we’re destined to play the Cubs in the division series again which makes me curious to see how our TOR starters look in these games. I’d prefer to give them only one look at Miz/Henderson but it looks like they will be lined up to go against the Cubs again next week. Maybe they can be shortened outings…

I'm sorry I will miss seeing the Miz in person tonight. BUT......my wife got us tickets to Wrigley for tomorrow night!  I don't have any Brewers gear to wear, alas. So I'll be wearing my Montreal Expos t-shirt.  If you happen to be there tomorrow and see a fat guy in an Expos shirt up behind the 1st base dugout, give me a shout!

I doubt the Cubs do anything different on the mound tonight since Peterson is 6'6" with elite extension and will be landing in the same vicinity as Miz. But I wouldn't put it past them to use a passing shower this afternoon to declare a rainout.

Peterson did a pretty good job against the Brewers when he faced them in June.

Cubs might have to win a wild card series at Philly or Atlanta for that to happen.

Also possible the Dodgers take advantage of a relatively light schedule (minus three games with the Padres) and get on a roll to catch us for the 1 seed.

DBacks and Padres have been scuffling a bit, but outside shot they turn things around and the Cubs have a rough go of it, too.

Still plenty of ways to avoid them in the postseason. Would enjoy the divisional round a lot more if it's not against them.

Amen. Last year's series against them took a year or two off my life. I'd like to avoid that.

I couldn’t watch game 5, it was too much. Had family in town and went out to dinner and basically ignored the game. Heard the final out on the radio. 

Not my proudest moment as a fan but I felt nothing except relief that it was over at the end of it.

Almost my experience exactly. I did, however, watch the first 7 innings. Then, went for a long walk. Came back about 1 minute after the final out and managed to rewind and watch the last two. 

The only thing capable of ruining the cultivated zen calm I've created for Brewers playoff baseball is losing to the Cubs. Even the most painful loss imaginable probably wouldn't make a dent.

Tiny sample but Yeli 1-8 with 2 walks in 10 plate appearances against Peterson……give him a day and have him available if a more favorable matchup is available later in the game.

seems like a nice lineup that can hopefully put up some runs behind the Miz and shut the door on the Cubs

I said on Monday that I won’t be satisfied unless the Brewers win at least 3 of the 7 games against the Cubs. That would limit the  Cubs to a 1 game gain and give the Brewers the tiebreaker. 
 

The Brewers got one, but I’ll be pretty disappointed if they don’t get at least one more these next 2 days. Losing both would leave open the possibility of a Cubs sweep next week that would make the race more interesting than I would like, and force the Brewers to win the series next week just to get the tiebreaker. 

But even if you think the division race is already in the bag these are still important games. Of course, every game is important in the race for the byes, and wins over the Cubs (and the Reds, Pirates,and Cardinals) also help in the tiebreaker battle with the Braves (or possibly the Phillies).

The odds of the Cubs catching the Crew are astronomical. They get one of the next two and it’s virtually zero chance for the Cubs. The number of games left makes the math almost impossible.

46 and 21 when Vaughn starts.

40 and 32 when he doesn't for whatever reason including injury.

I understand the mathematical probabilities, however you try to calculate them. But I know from experience that baseball isn’t played with math. If you looked at just math, teams would virtually never have winning streaks or losing streaks of 10 games or more.

2014 taught us to never assume it's over until the champagne is popping. 

Granted this team is much more talented but you never know.

Brewers currently have 98.6% odds of winning the division per Fangraphs. If they split the next two games that probably would increase to closer to 99%. That's pretty much almost impossible. Fangraphs calculates these odds by running 20,000 simulations based on ROS projections for individual players and playing time.

If Brewers split the next two they would have an 8 game lead with 21 games remaining and a magic number of 14. If the Brewers went 10-11 to finish the year the Cubs would need to go 18-3 to tie the Brewers in the standings. I'd consider those odds almost impossible.
