Is there any chance they still go after a 2B. I mean, this didn't cost them a ton and even if they added a 2B they would have a stacked bench and tons of flexibility. I just have to believe I'm not seeing something here.

I think this is it for the Brewers at least on the offensive side. There maybe another trade for a reliever or a starter but I think this is it.

I hate to even bring this in here but a twitter guy (@bucksbrett) broke this trade three hours ago. Even Ken Rosenthal gave him credit. Crazy. Tweeted that a person in the organization told him.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

No, I don't think so. I think we're out on Dozier, out on Schoop. I think the plan is Shaw at 2nd daily and that's it.

If I'm spotting the trend, it would have to be a FA after 2018 with a mutual option...

I'm down with this move. I sort of hope we're done now actually, unless they have something in mind with dealing Shaw. This team should be a whole bunch of fun to watch.

No, that is certainly newsworthy. Thanks for pointing it out.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

New lineup vs. RHP:

Thames

Cain

Yelich

Aguilar

Moustakas

Shaw

Pina

Arcia

Spitballing here...they have become very lefty heavy.

Shaw will field balls hit near him. He’s going to have way below average range, and would be curious to see him turn a double play.

The really odd part to me is this isn’t even a platoon type option. We face a Kershaw or MadBum like tonight you might still end up with Pérez or Saladino playing 3B?

I've never seen a 6'4" 230 lb second baseman before. This will be interesting.

I love this. High crash and burn potential but it’s gonna be fun. DS haters get some ammo for sure if this move flames out.

We've already seen Shaw play 2B a bunch of times in defensive shifts. He's fine. This would be a shocking move 10 years ago, but is no big deal now.

I'm just surprised they haven't gone Aguilar at 3rd, Shaw at 2nd once or twice this year to at least test the waters on something like this before pulling the trigger.

This feels like a complicated a risky solution to a seemingly simple problem.

I mean I guess Asdrubal Cabrera does grade out horribly at 2b and Escobar hasn't played THAT much 2b this year, but I'm still skeptical.

Additionally, Moustakas is basically a platoon bat just like Shaw.

Weird move all around.

Actually I can see this as a part of the O’s trade, especially if Stearns see Gausmann as a #1 or #2 starter in the NL. Of course then Schoop has to be included.

Get a lead, hand it to the bullpen, and put your d in the game. Shaw can start at 2B, doesn't mean he ends there in the 9th. He could go to 3B or even 1B depending on situation.

We got, what, something like 50 guys that could be argued to keep on the 40 man this offseason? Some guys should be traded now for something; better than simply handing them to a team next year.

Like others said, we will not miss the traded guys because how they were buried on the depth charts.

Great move!
