Gio has allowed an .894 OPS against from righties this season. Nothing wrong at all with using him the way he was used this game.

[sarcasm]Imagine if Yaz wasn’t so tired all the time.[/sarcasm]

I see that is in blue, but there is merit to the fact that at some point, he is going to wear down. Catchers don't catch 12-13-14 games in a row for a reason.

hopefully it doesn't happen when we need him most, in the play-offs!

Maybe Yaz can get tomorrow off.

Suter also pitched 3 days ago. I’m sure that had something to do with it. But yes, our armchair managers would have this Padres team shutout tonight instead one giving up one run over 7 innings.

From one arm chair manager to another... We all do it, even you. I am BOOOOOing you again tonight!

How about instead of hand wringing over reliever moves that have led to all of 1 run given up in what is essentially a bullpen game we start getting salty about a lineup that has managed 1 hit thus far?

Let's go, offense! Do something!!

Is Albers on the playoff roster at this point. I say no.

He is. Simply because they don't have 7 better relievers. The way they continue to use him gives absolutely no indication that they don't view him as a key part of the pen, for better or worse.

I'll give this a go; Hader, Guerra, Pomeranz, Claudio, Peralta, Jay Jackson, and Ray Black are all better.

It's hard to watch Albers now and if they left him off the playoff roster I'd get it, but there was quite a long stretch when this entire pen sucked and he was one of about two decent arms we had going. So I hate seeing people light him up, but I get it.

That group may have more talent but each and everyone of them, including Albers, have hand good and bad stretches. None are overly consistent with the exception of Hader.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

I guess that's my point. He pretty single-handedly kept this pen afloat during a couple long stretches this year. If you bring a 13 man pitching staff into the playoffs, you have 4 starters and likely nine relievers. He's more than likely one of those nine.

I think this is very close but Suter is in for sure.

Moose has 35 bombs but his OPS is mid .800’s. Always seems weird to me to see.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
