deGrom getting TJ surgery.

Absolutely devastating for the Rangers and DeGrom’s HOF case.

I would say the Mets knew what they were doing, but then they went ahead and signed a 40 year old Justin Verlander…

What is even crazier is Trea Turner's slash line:

.250 / .295 / .392

Still would be one of the best stat lines on our club ! Yuck !

That’s an 82 wRC+ which would rank behind Yelich (102), Anderson (102), Adames (84), Tellez (114), Contreras (108) and Miller (125) among regulars and dead even with struggling rookie Wiemer (82) before tonight’s game.

If we throw in Monasterio (137) in a small sample, Turner’s performance would rank 8th or 9th among current Brewers.

Not bad for $300M.

I just noticed that Reese Olson made his MLB debut for the Tigers the other day. 5 IP, 2H, 6 SO. Looked filthy and took a no-no into the 6th.  That trade for Daniel Norris might come back to be a real big stinker. Hope I'm wrong but at worst Olson looks like a good late inning reliever and at best a mid-rotation starter.

That one performance alone already makes that trade a huge loss for us.  If Olson never throws another pitch, we still lose that trade.

That was just a bad bad deal.

This isn't even a hindsight thing either. Basically everybody I know who remotely follows the Brewers minor leagues hated that trade.

Olson pitched well in 2022, but didn't exactly earn the promotion in 2023.  1.745 WHIP and 5.4 BB/9 in AAA before the callup.  Career 4.0 BB/9 in the minors, so his 2022 was more of the outlier.

I didn't like the trade either, but at this point it isn't a win for Detroit.

Oakland beat Tampa 4-3 yesterday.

It's not just us...

They were coming off a series win against the Pirates before they swept us and have a six game winning streak against teams with a winning record. The old adage "it isn't who you play, it's when you play them" holds true.

I feel like this has happened to the Brewers a lot so far this season, playing teams with their tails up

Nothing to add, I just really like the term playing teams with their tails up. Definitely going to steal that one.

The father of Braves player Charlie Culberson was scheduled to throw out the first pitch before today's game.

The Braves DFA'd Culberson right before the game.

UPDATE: Oakland is now 2-8 after sweeping the Brewers.

They won their next two after the Brewers series!

The joined the Rockies as the second team with two eight game losing streaks this season.

This is a very light return for the Royals and I think this sets up the reliever market for this deadline which is rather low than in past years.  The Royals gave up about $7m in value and only received back about $3m in value.  This is a huge gamble on Cabrera and Ragans staying healthy (he has had two TJ surgeries already).

I don't think the Padres will get much more for Hader who has a higher price tag than Chapman did.  This does sound good for the Brewers if they do decide to get a bullpen piece during the deadline.

Looks like the Brewers are going to be shut out from this all-star game.

People still watch the All Star Game?
