I prefer Jeffrey Leonard or Franklin Stubbs in this scenario LOL

Corey Hart in the afternoon. Jeffrey Leonhard/Franklin Stubbs in the evening sound like a plan.

Well played. Had this queued up last night just for the Magic Number thread, assuming we'd be hitting 3 today.

Yost World Series Championships: 1

Brewers World Series Championships: 0

If the Brewers are to win the WS this year, it will look a heck of a lot like those Royals WS teams from '14-'15...

But with a good manager.

Not real sure why, but I always really liked Keith Ginter. Maybe its because he was a bright spot on some pretty bad teams.

I thought that was JJ Hardy in the picture and was wondering why he was wearing #6

How are “magic numbers” calculated? I’ve never understood it.

Welcome to the site!

Magic numbers are simple: the number of first place wins or second place losses required to win a division. Once the number hits zero, it means that no matter what the second place team does, they cannot catch the first place team.

Here is the actual calculation:

163 – (1st place team wins) – (2nd place team losses) = Magic Number

- - - - - - - - -

I do it this way. Team A  is 82-70 with 10 games left. How many games can Team A win if they go 10-0? 92. Team B is 85-67. They would need to get to 93, so they need 8 wins. Magic number: 8. (7 if they own the tiebreaker.)
