I'm not sure if this has been posted on here yet, but Bob Uecker will be on the mic for the home opener... and plans to take things day by day afterwards. I'd been wondering about his status as I hadn't heard anything from him or about him this spring.

Going to have to really cherish every broadcast we get with him this season.

Hope we get Ueck on the mic on a lot of weekends, maybe? Or weekday afternoons?

I love the Brewers radio crew, so glad we have a lot of talent. Maybe this year we can start to get used to baseball without Bob, while still getting us some Bob.

So glad to hear he will be doing the home opener.  Summer won't be summer when his voice no longer graces the Wisconsin airwaves.  I'm in my mid-40's and his voice on my radio is like a connection back to all of my best summer childhood memories.

As will the Brewers themselves.

For those with MLB.TV, I noted that last year (or maybe the year previous?) they added the feature of watching the game, but listening to the Radio broadcast instead.  They sync it up pretty well even though the graphics and discussion don't match.  But it is totally worth it to listen to Ueck call the game.

Yup that's been my go to whenever Ueck is on the radio broadcast.  Hope they keep that option.  I'm told they used to also have the option of just stadium audio, I wish that would return.

its entirely possible he hangs it up on Tuesday night.

Yep. Based on that statement, I think it's more likely than not that Tuesday is his last game. He's not the kind of person who is going to draw attention to himself and have a big farewell.

That said, my heart still hopes that he'll be his usual self on Tuesday and he'll do plenty of games this year.

Oh man I saw that tweet and was very worried we may not see him much this year.  I'm not even going to let my mind go there yet.  If this is his last game or season, it will be tough for me to deal with.  I'll save the emotional post for a different time.  I love Ueck and it's always a pleasure listening to him.  Here's to hoping he'll be around for some games here and there this whole season!

I love listening to Uke call the games, but the man is 90.  Not a whole lot of the people who make it to 90 are still working.  I'll enjoy whatever he's able to give us this year.

I don’t know about anyone else, but doing this would, inevitably, crash my Roku to the desktop.  It would maybe last twenty minutes or so before doing so.

boy I hope they fixed that this year

I doubt Tuesday is his last time..,I think the Brewers would want something more planned and I think Ueck would do it for the fans.

This might come off cold-hearted from someone not old enough to really appreciate the old old glory days…but it’s long overdue. He has been pretty shaky to awful at times for years now. He probably should have given it up when he was still putting together a solid full season…versus his health declining and limping his way to the mic and struggle to call games. Enjoy life away from the mic Ueck and visit the clubhouse often.

That being said, it will be sad when he is gone. His voice is iconic and the calls are legendary for so many moments in Brewers history. I love when MLB highlight videos have the radio crew voiceover. As a small market we don’t often get long term people to stay around…and while not a player, Ueck has been a pillar of good memories for generations.

I've never had MLB.TV do that to my Roku.  But Amazon Prime does it too often.  Hulu on occasion.  I think it is more a Roku issue than MLB. TV.  I've read that uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling fixes it, but I've not tried it yet.

Sure, there is no more Uecker doing the pregame show in Montreal as a disgruntled French Canadian, or a multi inning story about the Furry Convention in San Diego at the Brewers’ hotel, BUT even 90 year old Uecker  mistaking a player for someone else beats the other three bozos (who seemingly spend the broadcast dropping pop culture references) every single time

That statement doesn’t give me a good feeling at all about how Bob is doing.

I KNOW.  The part that hit me hardest was the "expects to be at the mic" for Tuesday's game.

We know that no one is promised the future, but that wording has extra weight for just a few days out.  Bob owes us no explanation, but how shaky is the premise that he'll be on air this week?!

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

He's 90 years old. His health is irrelevant he could die at any moment.

Morbid but the life expectancy for a 90 year old American male is 4+ years.  In Bob’s case it’s probably more relevant that Vin Scully (another one of the all time greats) retired at 89. Ernie Harwell retired at 84, etc.

It could simply be his desire to spend two months worth of summer nights calling games is waning.

Fortunately Ueck sounds as good as ever.

Absolutely! But he only did the 1st and 2nd innings so far.
