So the opener is only a successful strategy if no one gets on base?

Where are you getting that from? I wasn’t suggesting anything close to that.

Today the opener gave up a run on 2 hits in the first inning and put 2 men on to start the second and forced Wilson to inherit a tough situation.

Even you said at about the same time I posted that it was probably a mistake trying to squeeze another inning out of the opener.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

An out at home. Groundhog Day.

I really don’t count force outs at home the same as other runners thrown out at the plate.

Sorry, you're right about the first inning, I was focused more on the second inning, and the fact that you called it a failure without knowing the results. Obviously it didn't affect Wilson, so you can say you don't like it as an approach, but any team can string a couple hits together and get a run, so the fact that it happened to take place against an opener once doesn't make it a bad strategy. I think this is the first run that's been scored on an opener?

Even when the Brewers have scored today they leave you with a bad taste. In both cases they still had the bases loaded and one out and couldn’t add more.

How are you going to survive this season hitting Hoskins and Adames 3-4?

By letting your phenom carry more and more of the load as the season goes on. He may be the next franchise player with back problems after he carries this team into the playoffs.

Contact play, crap ground ball to an infielder resulting in a Brewer out at home. Result would have been the same if it had been a tag out or a force out. Wasted opportunity.

I didn't know Hoskins was this big a strikeout guy. Disappointed.

There's nothing he does particularly well. He's just been a bad acquisition.

So far, yes...  If it continues, he'll be here next year too, which is kind of a bummer.

Junis has been pretty good out of the pen. I like him.

Pretty expensive pen guy, for us anyway...

Can't decide whether Wiemer or Mitchell has been the more disappointing OF prospect. Frelick at least shows occasional flashes.
