Not gonna lie, I am happy the team beating the brewers making the WS ends with a team led by Sterns.

On the TNT broadcast with the awesome stats on the screen, the guys said the closer was the best in baseball.  Now I know how to jinx a closer.

They said the same thing about Devin... 😢

Williams jinxed himself by walking the first batter.

I know people outside of NY/LA might be annoyed, but I like it. First time they've met in the World Series in 43 years, the two best players in the game...bring it on.

141 innings with a 0.70 ERA in the postseason.

Put up a zero eighty six times, allowed one earned nine times. Only gave up two earned once.

Was credited with one single solitary loss versus eight wins and forty two saves (twenty nine of which were four outs or more) in ninety six appearances.

His +11.38 Win Probability Added in the postseason is more than Schilling (+4.07), Smoltz (+3.35) and Pettite (+3.20) have combined in second through fourth place.

Hard for me to classify that as struggles plural.

People complain when a couple wild cards that don’t deserve it get there like last year.

People complain when the two dominant historic franchises that were both number one seeds get there.

People complain.

Yet he still cost them two WSs.   that's what is nuts about his stats, they are that ridiculous yet he still lost the AZ series and blew those games to Bos with the 3-0 lead.

I hope it is. The only way to get the change necessary is if nobody watches. I think MLB and the media have the mindset that the two largest markets in the biggest game is the best way to get ratings. I'm not sure it is anymore. I guess we'll find out.

After last year's World Series ratings disaster, it's no surprise that the next World Series would be a Dodgers/Yankees matchup.

I think most of us are complaining that it's too easy for a few select teams to buy more bites at the apple. I don't want the World Series to be a glorified all star game. Nor am I interested in watching one.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Exactly.

Was just going to post this same stuff, but you beat me to it.

Yes, his numbers look really good, but when adding those appearances, I stand by my original statement, He had his struggles too...

This is why you endless stats guys aren't always right...

Those numbers you just posted look awesome, but ask Yankees fans about those unawesome games.

He had his struggles too.

Volume certainly helps but look at Rivera's cWPA compared to the Top 10 in saves all time. Rivera was about as untouchable as it gets in the playoffs.

Everyone has struggles (except John Rocker and Joe Niekro apparently).

Whatever struggle Rivera experienced in the postseason was exponentially less than any player ever.

Any Yankee fan still clinging to his tiny percentage of unawesome games over the five World Series titles is probably pretty miserable to be around anyway.

As a fan of the smallest market organization in MLB, I hate the WS matchup to a degree.

But, as a baseball fan who wants to see the best against the best for a title, I love it.  These are the type of matchups that made MLB America's pasttime.  The playoff format, good or bad, has limited the number of these huge market matchups in the Fall Classic due to baseball being pretty random in October.

I'm looking forward to the series as a baseball fan, knowing had my team pitched one more solid inning a few weeks ago that they could just as easily be in this spot, too.

Sure, but if the Tigers had the Ohtani, Betts and Freeman and the Brewers had Judge, Soto and Stanton, I bet that changes.  How many NFL teams were represented at Lidz?  I bet every one of them.  I had the same experience at the same store in Daytona a week ago, but thy had plenty of Packer gear and every other NFL team.

Respectfully disagree. The comparison with the NFL is apples to oranges. The NFL, with its decades-long, quarterback-driven, star-power+salary cap, competitive balance model has football fans tuning into non-market games nearly every day of the week. Casual sports fans in the largest metro areas in the USA, and nearly every bar with a television in the country are tuning in to watch the Jaguars-Chiefs on Thursday night.

This is simply not true of your hypothetical Tigers-Brewers series with big baseball stars. The MLB brand is very, very weak. The Yankees brand is global. worldwide, Ruthian. Yankees and Dodgers caps represent the cities --- not baseball. A Packers hat represents NFL football, not Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The Brewers were the only MLB team I didn't see at Lidz in Anchorage.  Hell, they even had 4 varieties of Pirates hat.  Had an Expos hat and they've been out of Montreal for like 20 years.  Surprisingly, they did only have one cub hat.  Still that's one too many of those things in my opinion.

Anecdotally, in '18 during the NLCS vs LAD, I was in ANC and watched one of the games at the Peanut Farm while waiting to pick someone up at the airport.  There was a lot of Brewers gear being worn in the place that night.
