I'm not specifically saying we should of signed bryce or he would of signed im purely trying to say we have the money to make a big move like that if they spend more efficiently like cmon we are paying hoskins 17 mil a season for what you guys seem to only value war on this forum and hoskins was -0.6 last year

Why did we trade arguably top 3 closer in baseball for cortes and durbin? We could of salary dumped him for just prospects and saved 8 million

Why did we pay a blown out arm woodruff 17.5 million to rehab then leave in fa after this year?

Why did we pay 7.5 million for a 37 year old miley that posted a 4.69 fip year prior just why?

Why did we pay a 33 year old lorenzo cain 80 million?

Why the hell would they ever waste 8 million on gary sanchez?

Hoskins’ signing was hailed at the time and matched the Brewers’ needs to a T. Cain’s deal would probably be remembered differently if it was 4/80 instead of 5/80. Even with never again hitting the heights of 2018 and taking the pandemic year off, he was still arguably the third best center fielder in baseball from 2018-2021.

Cortes was coming off a season in which he was arguably one of the top 40 starters in baseball (32nd in fWAR). Miley was a consistent FIP beater in the second half of his career, so that might not be the best argument.

Sanchez always confused me, but on a one year deal it wasn’t completely out of expected price range given his prior season. Just not where I would have spent money.

I dont give a damn if cortes was the best pitcher in baseball he is gone after this year we have enough pitching

salary dump would of been more beneficial that 8 million could of bought hyeseong kim i was practically begging all off season for him where does he go dodgers 3 years 12.5 mil

Who hailed hoskins for that much money off an acl injury i was hoping we where gonna retain santana

At the time he was traded for we didn’t. No Quintana, no Priester, Patrick was minor league depth and Henderson and Misiorowski were looked at as needing more work in the minors.

Peralta civale myers Ashby  hall rodriguez miz Henderson all options woodruff and gasser later in year

Patrick went 14-1 with a 2.90 era in triple a last year miz almost got called up last year theres no surprises here

And i knew quintana was coming 4 weeks prior to his signing brewers where just trying to get his price down

We spent the first 5ish weeks of the year with like one healthy starting pitcher from the original plan and we're now hind sighting that we didn't need pitching depth.   This season, once again just like last year, is proving you can never have enough SP depth.

Just a little censorship (swearing, trolling, name calling/insults, grammar) often goes a long way in helping civil discourse. This thread is a great example. I hate the idea of censorship, of course, which is why I try to censor myself.

This thread makes me miss the days of Ben Hendrickson's Dad posting here. A simpler time.

I have a feeling there will be a similar meltdown as his dad had on the way out.

Please return to talking about Devers and not about posters.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Devers already saying he will play wherever they want him to play.

So it looks like he will be ok playing 1B if they want him to.  What is going on in Boston is the FO really toxic? is the management toxic?

It seems like it, reports are out there that they're just petty.  Fired a long time scout for a calling breslow a stiff on a zoom call is pretty pathetic, so I wouldn't put it past the players not wanting to put up with the front office BS.  Makes me like devers even more with that context 🤣

Yeah but the Giants are going for it obviously so I'm sure their fans are cool with it.

They get the coveted, “You Tried” award. A truly monumental achievement.

I think we have the answer to the age old question of whether it was the player or management that was causing the problem...

That's pretty close to the "They did SOMETHING" certificate
