I think there’s an impression that the Marlins are more hapless than they actually are. They’re currently only 5 games under .500, and on an 11-7 streak including series wins over the Royals and Padres.

They’re not walkovers.

Unfortunately, the Cubs have a true walkover series against their crosstown rivals.

The White Sox have won 5/6 including taking 2/3 from the Rays. I think we can at least hope for the Cubs to drop one of the three.

Time for Aaron Civale to show he's still an MLB SP and pitch a gem against the Cubs.

Just watched Dennis Krause on the Round Table and Krause and the crew said Brewers payroll is less than what the Dodgers pay in luxury tax.

They also said they have heard no rumors at all besides the Eugenio Suarez talk. So far negotiations are not going well because they want 3 pitchers for him but didn't say which ones.

Even when they make moves & rebuild Miami always seems to have young talent that keeps you from taking anything for granted when playing them. Kyle Stowers can do a lot of damage & Xavier Edwards seems to be a pain in the neck whenever we play them.

There will be wailing & gnashing of teeth on here if we fail to hit our old friend Janson Junk, who's actually been pitching pretty well.

Junk is definitely due for a stinker. The guy has a 1.6% HR/FB rate. We aren’t a big power team but maybe we can put a dent in that number.

Suarez ain't gonna' help us more than our current pitchers and Durbin and Oritiz!  Book it!

Makes it seem like he’s gonna get traded at about 3pm on the 31st, and it will be for two pitchers, and not MKE

Wow, I clearly have not had Quantrill on my radar. I just looked him up to see how his minor league numbers have looked recently... Dude's 30 and hasn't seen the minors in years! I must've confused him with one of the other sons/nephews pitching. Leiter, maybe.

Not only are the Marlins not walkovers, but for the last 6 weeks or so they have been one of the best teams in MLB.

Since hitting their low water mark of 25-41 on June 11, the Marlins have gone 23-12. Only the Brewers astounding 25-8 is better during that period. That 23-12 record is the same as the record of the Blue Jays who have used their hot streak to race past the Yankees, who have been 15-21.

The next best records in the NL during that period belong to the Phillies, Cubs, and Dodgers who all went 19-15, 3 1/2 games worse than the Marlins.

In their last 9 series the Marlins have won 7 and split 1 four game series. Their only series loss was to the Brewers, who managed to win 2 of 3 close, hard fought games.

This figures to be another tough series. The Brewers winning 2 of 3 should be considered a positive.

Yeah, the opening series narratives for the Yankees and Brewers are just about flipped on their heads now, aren’t they?

ANyone know if it willbe streamed?

I don’t know about general streaming, but I did notice that the Bally Brewers live post game,  which usually runs for 30 minutes after the game telecast,  is scheduled for 90 minutes today. I hope that means that they will be showing the home run derby as part of the post game show.

I had a dream we were allowed to give Prince and Braun one at bat in the game today.  I was very hyped.

Then Prince struck out looking and never got the bat off his shoulder, and Braun grounded out weakly.

I’ll take this all with a grain of salt until HighHeat19 weighs in tonight.

The Marlins' black jerseys are terrible (I dislike most black uniforms if they aren't the team's normal colors), but the old school aqua cap is great.
