I predict they will make a minor move or two, and most people will be disappointed.

Kwan would be a good add with his years of control.  Adding a bullpen arm would be helpful as well.  We have Megil, Uribe, and then a big drop.  I don’t trust Mears or Koening in the 7th inning of a one run playoff game.

Crickets apparently :).  Brewers are looking good now, the problem is their difficulty of their schedule compared to the Cubs. They need to add!!

I was listening to an MLB podcast yesterday, and the two hosts were laughing about how the Brewers were not only the best team in baseball, but that after studying the Brewers these last few weeks, they were extremely impressed the Brewers didn't have any holes they needed to fix. They were taken aback a little bit.

I love the deadline as much as the next baseball fan, but many of the narratives are media-driven. Regional, or team-specific media, as much as national media. I think that within the baseball world, the acquisitions of Priester, Vaughn, and Jansen, along with guys like Big Woo and Misiorowski really do represent additions, and that objectively, the Brewers, when compared to the other contenders, are in really good shape.

Can they add? Should they? That depends on one's point-of-view, of course, and everyone's opinions are valid, but at least from the outside, the Brewers are considered an outlier in terms of their "completeness".

Would really like a back-end reliever ideally with closing experience (Bednar?).

If not do we think that come playoff time Miz will be used in a 1-inning relief role?

Kwan is a better/right handed version of Sal.  Perfect fit for what the Brewers are, but whose AB's is he taking.

Alternatively, they will make a big move and most people will be disappointed by what they had to give up 😀

We get Cortes and Gasser back soon and Hoskins by September.  There is your pitching and best bat available.  Kwan or stand Pat.

Hoskins has mostly stunk as a Brewer.  I wouldn't count on him for anything.  I am excited to get Gasser back though.

Kwan is a LHB.  Better than Frelick or Collins against RHP, but much worse than them against LHP.

But I struggle with that as well.  Would we be so bold as to move Collins to 2B and Turang to SS mid-season?  That's a huge boost to the lineup, but a gamble defensively.

Amen to that, Hoskins like Mitchell are hurt 1/2 the time.  I'm sick of the players continually on the injured list, you just cannot ever count on them.

Andrew Vaughn is everything Suarez could ever hope to be offensively. S

Will see if we deal from starting pitching depth today. Expect some vet pickups for bench ala Jerry Hariston Jr or Curtis Granderson.

Come playoffs could see Miz slide into relief role like Hader did in 2018.  Honestly, he peaked during that run. 2019 and 2021 were good stats wise, but he cost us wildcard both years w his meltdowns.

I disagree.  Hoskins going on the IL was one of the better things that happened this season.  We only need him if we have a series against the Phillies.

At the end of the day I do not want Joey Ortiz to be our main shortstop. That needs to be upgraded. Another reliable bullpen piece would also be wise. 7th inning is a problem.

I'm solidly in the overpay for Neto camp. With Henderson and Gasser on the 40 man I'm hard pressed to see how we would do better picking up a reliever to round things out. Maybe there are some marginal gains with the bench after you fix the SS problem, but Seigler and Monasterio get so few ABs that you get a huge variance to worry too much about that.

I think this is a reasonable beginning hypothetical in terms of on-field value/team control, but Marte's contract and 5-team no-trade clause would be significant hurdles. In addition, the Diamondbacks are a well-run organization that wants to compete every season and Marte is MVP-caliber.

I think the Diamondbacks would need more than that in order to try and convince "their" guy to waive a no-trade clause. And I just don't see that organization doing that, as it really upsets their applecart.

We should definitely think about using our pitching depth in the bullpen instead of trading for a coin-flip of a bullpen upgrade. It feels like bullpen pieces have been expensive in prospect cost over the last couple of days. A bunch of our young guys will be running up against developmental inning counts anyway.

I think we need two weeks of Turang at SS with Collins at 2B. Let's just see what happens.

I agree that Siegler and Monasterio get few ABs, but if we had better players in those spots, Murph might use those bench bats more. I haven't done any homework on this, but finding someone who can play util. inf. and has a good track record of PH appearances would be great to slot in instead of one of those two.
