It depends on what you think is the real Durbin. The sample since June is fantastic. The sample before that is abysmal. Lol not large enough for me to make an accurate eval. Just saying think we could have extracted more value. Lockridge is equivalent to nothing. Guy absolutely blows.

I think the real Durbin is the full year numbers, and I lean towards slightly better than that since he was a bit overwhelmed at the start. I think he's not quite the .790 OPS guy he's shown since June, but I do think he'll consistently be .750. And I'm happy with a guy who can OPS at that rate with six years of control, especially if the long term plan is to move Turang to SS and Durbin to 2B.

Maybe relax until we see him play first .

Do we have any of Vaughn's pixie dust left?

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

However many times the negative nellies try to make me feel shame for being ok with "just making the playoffs", I trust the front office > message board know-it-alls.

It's fine being disappointed, I think everyone's disappointed on some level. It's when you repeat it over and over and over again that it starts feeling like you're having a meltdown over it even if that's not the case.

Regardless, we still have a very good team and it'll be fun watching the rest of the season unfold. We didn't "win the offseason" either and have been pretty okay despite some complaints about that at the time as well ;)

Let's go Crew!

Look, we all know SS is a major issue, and it's not what we foresaw before the season. I'm sure the front office sees it just as we do. The problem is that this deadline offered no meaningful upgrades at that position or at 2B either, if moving Turang over was even an option mid-season.

While I wish we were able to do more, we can take solace in knowing that none of the other NL teams besides the Padres made earth shattering moves that will drastically affect our chances.

And I do believe this sets us up with the best farm system in the league that will be fully capable of pulling off a major move in the off-season at SS or another position of need, when the actual star level players become available.

But I'm not judging anyone who is incredibly disappointed at today's results.

I am certainly no newbie around here but have disappointment. Salary dumping Cortes is fine if they acquire something else of value from the Padres or anothe team but neither of those things happended. The Cubs got a bit better but the Brewers didn't. The Padres, a team the Brewers could face in the Wild Card round got better. Maybe a waiver wire pickup will fall in their lap in August.

I’m not really worried about the Cubs acquisitions

They got better but that playoff rotation will likely be the worst in the league

I remember when Shelby Miller was touted as a Cardinals phenom. I feel old.

What the hell; I had to pinch myself and think, "that Shelby Miller?"

Didn't the Brewers have him a few years ago?
