Ya, I think it was over before I posted.

I actually thought Seigler looked pretty good — as far as position players go I mean, obviously. Hitting the zone consistently, but not just leaving everything out over the middle of the plate on every pitch, either.

Can we end all the "I don't want to face (insert team here) in the playoffs" talk? I don't think anyone wants to see us.

I mean Seigler has actually pitched before.  I know it was high school, but still, he looked like a pitcher out there.  The guy the Pirates put out there was a complete joke.  I wish teams wouldn't do that.

Just seemed a little strange throwing him out there with a big lead, I always thought you did that when way behind. But he did fine.

I mean, apart from the question of the unwritten rules of baseball (somebody get Yadi and LaRussa on line one!), if Siegler is going to look that competent, why not keep using him when up by more than 6 in the ninth?

I have no idea how ESPN compiles that list but I do not think it is outrageous that the Brewers do not have a player in the top 50.  Just looking at fWAR for pitchers, the top Brewer is Freddy at 29th (2.3 WAR). For position players, Contreras is at 40th (3.0 WAR).  Overall, there are 55 players with an fWAR of 3.0 or higher.

The team as a whole has excellent metrics all over the place, but it is because have just been solid from top to almost bottom.

ESPN lost all credibility with me. They obviously do not like a team running like a well oiled machine. They just like the billion dollar babies.

MLB rules. 😉

Can only use a position player if in extra innings, down by 8 runs at any time, or leading by 10 runs in the 9th inning.

MLB changed the rules a few years ago. A position player can only pitch if you’re down 8 runs any time in the game, or up 10 runs in the 9th. Also, 6 is still too close. Give up two runners and you have to get your closer up. Better to throw a real pitcher and try to ensure your closer rest.

Thanks to you and @LouisEly for reminding me. I assume there is some sort of carve out for Ohtani? If Roberts wanted to bring him in as the second pitcher of a piggyback start after he has already been in the game as a hitter, is that not allowed even for the unicorn?

What a game! Only disappointment was Siegler faced all right handed batters.  No chance to see him be a switch pitcher.  Even MLB Gameday was ready:

I wonder if Seigler has a Venditte glove somewhere. Seems like it’d be tough to switch pitch without one.

Cubs now have lost 12 of their last 21 games.

Q: What's the difference between dirt on the floor and the Chicago Cubs?

A: Nothing...they both always get swept every week.

Q: What do Chicago Cubs fans and sperm have in common?

A: One in 3,000,000 has a chance of becoming a human being.

Just getting back from the game. I'm happy to say I was able to make it to both games this year against Skenes in Milwaukee.

Not much else to say, this team is bonkers and I've never seen anything like this following baseball before and just so thrilled and honored it is happening to our guys and we get to be a part of it.

I don't know why people wanted us to trade for Skenes... dude looks pretty meh to me.  Send him back to AAA to get some work.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Blue Jays with another run!

Padres and Phillies are the teams I'm concerned with.

Rooting hard for both to win their divisions so we dont have to face both.

Long way to go of course though

Teams can also designate players as two-way players -- players who are both position players and pitchers -- if they meet certain criteria. Two-way players are able to pitch in any situation but don't count toward the active roster's pitcher total.

Players qualify for the two-way player designation if they have met both of the following conditions in either the current MLB season or any of the two previous seasons:

• Pitched at least 20 Major League innings
• Started at least 20 Major League games as a position player or designated hitter, with at least three plate appearances in each of those games
