Again, I ask: How is anyone supposed to know what fan is buying the ticket?

Sell them on Facebook Marketplace.  Post on social media to your friends/family that you have tickets for sale.  Post on NextDoor or other local neighborhood social media sites.  Tack up a sign on the bulletin board in the break room at work.  And you don't have to pay seller fees that way.

StubHub/Vivid Seats/etc. aren't the only way to sell your tickets.

All this whining and moaning about Brewers fans selling their tickets...

Of course, there are some who will be selling their tickets for various reasons. But the vast majority are being resold by ticket brokers. These aren't Brewer fans, or even baseball fans, they are professional ticket scalpers who make a living ripping off people dumb and/or rich enough to pay well over face value for concerts and sporting events.

You understand that any fan can go in tomorrow and buy tickets, right? What I anticipate happening is that Cubs fans will buy as many as they can. If the Cubs don't advance, they'll dump them.

It's a silly post. The secondary market has existed on the Internet for 20 years. Every stadium has opposing fans in it. It's not that deep. If I got to a game and sat next to a Phillies fan I'd probably say hello and talk about the times I've spent in Philadelphia.

If there are visiting fans there, not enough Brewers fans wanted to be there. Pretty simple.

You don’t have to berate other posters repeatedly. The only thing you seem to care about is what you have the right to do, and saying “silly post” repeatedly is another thing you sure have a right to do. You could also make the choice to try to participate in a friendly way in a community – you’ll probably think it’s silly of me to presume on your almighty autonomy by making that suggestion.

Yeah I'm good. Facebook marketplace is a hard pass, ever tried to sell anything on there? About 40 "is this available messages?" and then people wanting to pay cash and meet up outside a Walmart 15 minutes away.

Stubhub isn't the only way, it is the fastest and safest, and expecting anybody to not use them due to this cause is incredibly silly.

And who is to say the person you sold to "at face" isn't just putting them on SH for 2x?

I think the more rational option is accepting that this is a sporting event and people from the other team are going to be there. A handful of guys selling to their boss isn't going to change that.

1. Please show me the berating.

2. Silly isn't an insult. In fact I would say repeatedly calling people sell outs is far more insulting.

3. I don't have any tickets.

I don't begrudge anyone selling tickets from their strip to whoever they want. Some people have no concept of how expensive it is to be to be a SSH, almost requiring one to be a CPA to figure out where it is your money is going and coming year after year. All for the privilege of someday possibly being able to pay face for World Series tickets.

Random question probably not related to this thread or topic or convo..

Are we able to mute and delete threads from our feed? If I ever read a thread on my lunch break and think "that was a gigantic waste of time and I wish I hadn't used my few minutes to find some Brewers news on this silly convo and get talked down by someone..." am I able to get rid of this thread so I don't make the mistake of doing it again tomorrow?

Just a random question for the mods unrelated to this thread..

This is the concept that Rick and his buddies don't seem to grasp.

If you are a SSH you are overpaying a ton for regular season tickets. Especially when the team is losing games. Somebody doing that for 20 years is losing their shirt. And the beauty of that, those same posters will happily use the secondary market to pay UNDER face value - that's totally ok because it benefits them. I personally think if you buy a ticket under face, you should Venmo the seller the amount to make sure he breaks even. Sound stupid, doesn't it?

They accept NONE of the risk of being a SSH but expect an equal opportunity to be in the park for playoff games at face value. That's insane. Anyone who believes that can pound sand. Some of these people have forked out 6-figure sums of money to the Brewers including seasons they won 60 games. They can make a couple hundred dollars on a playoff game. It's fine. Everyone will be OK.

Well, you can't control the list, but if you aren't marking a forum as read, I highly recommend doing so. Then the next time you go back in you can tell based on the font which threads on the list have new content, and if you click the blue dot/star on the left it'll jump you to the first unread post.

Even if you don't mark the whole forum as read, that's still a helpful way to view threads and keep track of where you left off.

FWIW, Brewers have released additional tickets in some sections for all games. Don't pay jacked up prices somewhere else.

This always happens because they hold back some seats to sell to people  who commit to season ticket packages for next season.

I suspect that ticket brokers who are aware of this practice snap up those tickets pretty quickly.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

And I have no doubt those same rich enough people who buy strips will cry poverty WS time and sell a game or two.  No doubt.

Should be obvious….Dont sell Brewers Playoff Tickets to just anyone, Brewers fan!  Go yourself! Or sell to Brewers buddies! Or GIFT to Brewers buddies!
Hearing rich guys cry poverty is almost too much.  If it is too costly, just buy individual seats. Better than gift wrapping them to opposing teams fans for top dollar.

It's like $200 to sit in the terrace today. That's gift wrapping it to opposing fans? People pay 2.5x that to watch the Packers. I am not sure you know what a "rich" person is.

The bold part can't be serious.

Hmm I wonder how much it matters how many Cubs fans got tickets today with the Brewers leading 9-1 after 2 innings? I'm sure it's still inexplicably important to some people though.

Like usual if you wait it out can get in for way less than the inflated prices. Just go to the stadium and get in around first pitch.

what app do you use to buy tickets around game time?

LF 1 ticket tonight. I’m a diehard Brewer fan, I won’t resell it. Looking to pay close to face :)

thanks,

Mike, I may be able to help you.  Send me a DM.  You'd be sitting with me, the SO and our 25 yo nephew, in section 217.  You can turn around and look at Adam McCalvy or the radio booth guys.
ETA: ticket claimed by Mike!
