"I’m not the best. None of our group is. But if you’re telling me another team is the best??? Man, I swear. I haven’t seen them. No one better than Milwaukee right now. No one better than US."

Man, I love that so much. You read this and you immediately understand why Murph will put Contreras in the lineup broken hand or not.

I also appreciate that he understands how special a world series would be for the city and its fans.

That kind of talk is infectious.

I love how much he has learned to love this place and the organization after first being distraught after the trade.

ps id love to know who the player is that was happy to go fishing?

I don't care who it really was, I choose to believe it was Jesse Winker.

"Fishing with Ozzie Albies" was a video that was up and taken down. But here is another one of him fishing.

He was talking about a Brewers player in 2023. This isn't about the Braves.

I thought he was talking about Contreras when he was with the Braves fishing with Albies.

This is what I was referring to…..after his first year with the brewers.

“But then I’m seeing guys who are leaving, it’s five minutes after the game, and they almost look happy. One guy, he’s even saying to me, “Yeah. Now I’ll go fishing.” I’m like, What is this??? We had to move on from that type of mindset. Something was missing, to be great.”

I don't see why we can't extend him. 6 years, $150-180 million. His brother showed there is longevity in his genes, Even in an injured down year he has good stats. Trade Jefferson Quero in offseason for position of need. C'mon Mark.

Contreras has a $12M option for 2026, then his third and final year of Arby's in 2027 after which he will be heading into free agency as a 30 year old.

Assuming the option is picked up, then say $18M for his final year of Arby's, then five free agent years at $24M each (current record AAV for a catcher is $23.1M) throw in a $2M signing bonus and you'd be at 6/140 in new money.

That would tie him with Will Smith for the third highest total value for a catcher contract behind Posey ($167M) and Mauer ($184M), and give him a new record AAV for a catcher.

Mark A can definitely afford it, just a matter of how much sense it makes for Milwaukee to invest so much of their limited payroll space in a catcher and how interested Contreras is in extending before FA.

I could see that but there was a late season acquisition in 2023 that is an avid fisherman, Josh Donaldon. After that can see why the Brewers could be reluctant to bring outsiders in that mess with their current mindset.

I have lived in Wisconsin all of my life.  I remember going to Atlanta 30 years ago for two weeks and seeing advertisements for Atlanta Falcons tickets.  What?  I am very naive living in Wisconsin for well over 50 years.

When I see players talk about how fans in Milwaukee handle things, the culture, and the city, I think to myself, "Eh... everyone says stuff like that, especially when things are going well."  Giannis, for the most part, says the same thing.

Don Sutton said, "I honestly think every player should have the opportunity of playing at least one year in Milwaukee. The people there were great to me. It's a real baseball town."

I, personally, don't know how true that is.  Sure, we all get sick when the Brewers get so close and lose.  I'll even put the Badgers in that light, too.

If it is true, I don't ever want it to change.  I want players to come to Milwaukee (and Wisconsin) because it is not only a great organization, but the people of this city understand it is not life or death.

I was at a spring training game this year and we were getting our butts kicked pretty good. A fan of the other team started mouthing off in the late innings, trying to start something. But all the Brewer fans around him were too busy drinking, dancing, and having a good time. I thought: yeah, these are my pepes.

I'm not crying. You're crying.

I was just about to post this. Tears, plus laughter out loud for the “expensive TVs” line.

Haha I immediately guessed it was Donaldson. Former MVP at the end of a storied career who was about to retire and seemed to be putting in a commensurate amount of effort down the stretch.

Wild Bill!  Man oh man that was good and has me so excited for this next game.  No matter what happens, this season has been extremely fun to witness.  I'm glad I'm a Brewer fan.

where did this wild bill thing come from?

Im pretty sure it was a nickname that Braves fans came up with...I remember hearing it on a podcast immediately after the trade and hoping he'd live up to it.
