Tough news for the Red Sox. Curtis Mead got hit by a pitch in his second AB with the team and is now on the IL with what is being reported as a broken wrist.

the was some kind of talk on mlb network in the last day or so about how every team is constantly scrambling to have pitching/arms available. It was brought up due to a position player pitching some day or I think a manager just left someone in to eat like 11 runs

They didn't get into it, and I don't think I've seen it brought up anywhere as part of the CBA but it really seems obvious to me that the evolution of pitching requires them to add another roster spot to MLB roster.  Could be a bone to throw the players in the negotiations.

I think they increase the roster size to 28-30 players in the next CBA and expand the 40-man to 45-50.  This then gives the players more revenue and gives teams more flexibility.  I think they will also reduce how many times you can shuttle someone from MLB to the minors.

It is going to take Rengifo about a week and a half in San Diego to equal the number of hits he had during his entire tenure with Milwaukee.

Rengifo Watch!

He has 15 hits in 45 plate appearances over 12 games with the Padres (385/455/1.044)

He had 38 hits in 209 plate appearances over 57 games with the Brewers.

Shows you just how big "small samples" can be in baseball.

twins got AJ minter for a bag of balls; that would have been a nice target for us.

Hopefully Morejon can be had cheaply too.

Yeah. I think I would like if the Brewers made their minor moves sooner rather than later. Or, at least get their weird moves like the Jordan Montgomery trade from last season, or the recent McCullors trade out of the way early.

I just think moving to get your 2nd-favorite reliever now, may be better than trying to acquire your first choice guy at the deadline.

I'm getting impatient as well, we're in that stage where we just need one big move to happen to open the floodgates. Hopefully it happens today.

Caught the end of that too.  They also noted the Yanks starters for the weekend are Cole and Fried.   Hopefully they can get the sweep and we take care of business vs the awful Angels and stretch the lead back out

Antoine Kelly makes his MLB debut for the Cubs and throws 1 1/3 scoreless against the Yankees.

Glad he finally made it (though unfortunately with the Cubs).  Long road with the injuries, and mostly pitching in the PCL from the time we traded him until the Cubs acquired him last month.

Good for him! I am claiming this justifies that one Top 25 ballot where I ranked him No. 1.
