if we make some moves, Pannone is DFA fodder here after his start, but at least he got a call up and a big league paycheck

He’ll go back down today regardless of outcome. They’ll get another fresh bullpen arm up for Friday since Pannone would be down for 4 days. Maybe not DFA right away, but first guy out if/when they need more roster spots. 

I am interested to see if they give Wagonner a shot, he’s been lights out in AAA, and needs to hit the 40 man this offseason anyways.

I'm starting to become skeptical of the Tigers being sellers. They are playing good baseball and are in the mix for their division and wild card. That team could come out of the AL with how weak it is this year.

My first thought was what it appears to now be---just wanting to push everyone back. If you're starting a lefty like Pannone, this isn't a bad team to do it against.

Webb hasn't been his normal self lately, but if he commands he'll be tough. He doesn't walk many & a lot of our rallies involve walks so it'll be a challenge. If you're in a position to win & Pannone can get into the 4th or 5th I would then expect Patrick.

Yeah this is a pretty favorable lineup to face as a LHP with Schmitt and Chapman on the IL. Ramos hits LHP well and some of their LHH are solid against LHP (Arraez, Eldridge, Lee) but Devers has huge platoon splits and Adames is a reverse splits guy. I'm not expecting much but I don't think it's a guaranteed loss.

They're only sorta in it - several teams between them and either a division (where they're 4th) or a WC berth (5 teams to pass). With guys like Skubal and maybe others, if they don't move them they miss a chance to re-stock their roster that they won't have if they hold on to them and then just lose them to free agency. The smart thing to do would be to sell, but teams aren't always smart.

Also easily DFA'able immediately following today's game, unless he defies logic and throws a gem. 40-man options Coleman Crow and Colton Gordon both started for Nashville in a doubleheader on Saturday, so they weren't options. Carlos Rodriguez is on the struggle bus right now.

Except Yount was a rookie in 1974.

Next Monday's trade deadline day thread is going to be an all-timer. I thought last year's was dramatic and I think fans have higher hopes this season given the two big names available. Emotions will be high.

My expectations are what they are. I'm expecting the exact same approach that Arnold has shown to have in each of his season's here. Maybe I'm wrong. It'll be high energy either way. If we don't splash somewhere people will be very emotional and if we do splash somewhere the excitement about the incoming + despair from the prospect hugging crew will be loud.

I love drama for drama's sake so I'm excited to watch it all unfold.

Man, I surely hope you are correct. I find myself cheering for Detroit to win every game so they hold on to Skubal & prevent the Brewers from overpaying for a rental.
