I've been on the various iterations of this board since Wendy was in charge and I'll stand by my comment.

Maybe it's just that the loudest voices in opposition to the F.O. tend to be consistent and persistent in their criticism of owners and F.O. (Mark A is cheap, etc). In addition to pretty much EVERY manager this century.

The Crew are winning IN SPITE OF 2- time manager of the year Murphy seems to be the consensus opinion.

If you think it's 95% positive, then I don't know what to tell you.

So have I. I don't know if it's 95 or 92% positive, obviously that was a bit hyperbolic, but you saying this board is overly critical of the front office is just objectively ridiculous. I don't know if you only go to the Game Threads... I stay away as they're the most negative threads on the board, but look at this very trade.

The majority of this board would have said the front office was right if they'd made this trade or if they hadn't because that's what they did. They just traded an 18-year-old that Baseball America had as a top 100 prospect, Fangraphs as the 43rd best prospect, a kid who looked to EVERYONE else 3 days ago like the next great IFA acquisition... and now, well, he's struggling in A ball because he's "only" got a 750 OPS at 18(to say nothing of Ragsdale, though I'm actually fine with trading him as you're at least LIKELY trading him when his value is high. You're likely trading Frias just just as he starts his ascent, now the #4 prospect in the Cards system and most the board is still defending THAT trade.

Looks like Ragsdale and Frias are going to need to lead the Cardinals to two World Series for STL to win the trade now.

Do the Hader trade now.

If only we had “ gone for it” with Skubal we could have won the World Series!

Instead we have to settle for still having Peña, Adamczewski and Jett in the system and going to a damn parade!

yeah thats the awesome team is that usually you are pushing all your chips in to sacrifice the future for a real shot now. They held their chips and kept their bits of the apple approach, which means they are in such great shape still. If Henderson had still been a AAA pitcher and not part of the 2026 postseason expectations, I think the Brewers make that deal and we win a championship still but lose Pena, Adamczewski and Henderson.

It'd still work out for the Cards if they're traded for a needle mover.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Yeah, it is going to work out fine for the Cardinals. There was no need for them to keep either May or Romero and they got the best possible deal. The Brewers and Cardinals have different priorities when making a deal, epsecially at the trade deadline so a good chance both teams ultimately consider it a win.

May was fine as a back-end starter and innings eater. He served his role keeping innings off our young arms and keeping them fresh. And he wasn't perfect by any means in the playoffs, but he pitched some big innings and kept the team in games. He was far from a liability against some very good lineups.

Once healthy, JoJo was nails.  He ended up being a huge acquisition, and got some huge outs in both the playoffs and in the September lead-up run to the playoffs.

Obviously we don't know what the future holds for the young talent we gave up, but all in all, this trade accomplished exactly what the Brewers needed it to.

Both he & DL Hall made the injury to Zerpa pretty much a non-factor, at least in the last few months.
