Was feeling meh about it. That price… wow. That has to be our “big” move. 
 

now I hate it. Surely those guys could have went into an actual big deal?

Heavy price, though from a position of depth.  Just glad it's Ragsdale and not Adamczewski.  #11 and #13 from a loaded farm and to a division team seems a lot compared to the prices others are paying.

I was against giving up Pena for a rental but I would have far preferred that over this.

Yeah, he is. He's our 3rd best starting pitcher now. 

But this upgrade is NOT Frias, Ragsdale type good. What the hell are we doing!


The ONE..."rule" I have with these trades, don't EVER give up teenagers who've shown some upside. Frias may end up a bust... OR he may end up Fernando Tatis Jr. I'd honestly rather we gave up Adamczewski. 

This is jsut sooo much. It feels like it HAS to be one or the other.

Coleman Crow plus Knoth looks amazing right about now. I want to go back to being disappointed about that.

Wowza, very surprised at that price tag. Only rationalization I have is that these are two very high risers this year and for the Brewers to move them for rentals in the division, the belief must be that both were playing way above what the organization sees in them. Cashing in before they come back down to Earth so to speak. Because if the team believes in their abilities, this doesn't match their modus operandi given there's no team control with the return

Better be ready to win a bunch of low scoring playoff games since these hitters for the most part have been brutal in October in previous years.

Imagine that we might pick up that $20mil mutual option for next season if he pitches really well down the stretch. Would essentially just replace Woodruff on the books from this season.

Lot to take in. The optics of the deadline to the casual fan should and shouldn't play a factor in making moves. It is an interesting dynamic. There are many, many fans who will be at the game tonight who have no idea who either Ragsdale or Frias are so they will see this trade and be great with it.

Then there are a lot here who would not have done Frias straight up for May/Jojo.

That does nothing for me though. There's a LOT of prospect the Brewers won't be able to make use of... but you don't give up THIS type of prospect capital for THESE players...

There are many fans that will be at the game tonight that would rather trade Jesus Made than Christian Yelich because they’ve heard of one and not the other.

It’s mutual, he would have to pick up his side. That’s the problem.

Yup, this is pretty painful. I’m ok with trading away Ragsdale. Frias is a player I would’ve wanted to keep. That’s a tough one.

Agreed Ragsdale is fine but both him and Frias is tough.

Trade Values board has a losing that trade by about $21 million. Seems about right. Way too high of a premium paid for that return.

We have such a logjam of infielders in the minors that I assumed pitching was going back but was hoping it was a Boeve or O'Rae headliner.

I guess we have the outfield set at the big league level for a bit.. but I didn't think we'd shave off two of our best OF prospects per se.
