Great callback. And I would say, yes, 7th... if at all. Clearly, he is not getting through this on his own... he is just spiraling. Time off, work with the coaches, sit down and watch every home run of your 2018 season to remember who you are, and come back ready to contribute.

I agree with most of this but I also think he needs to understand and accept - the guy he’s watching hit all those homeruns in 2018 is gone. He doesn’t exist anymore.

We already saw how quickly Rengifro turned his bat around elsewhere. starting to really doubt our hitting instruction.

Thursday, I was in an Irish Pub in San Rafael and they had the Giants game on TV.  Rengifo batting *second* for the Padres and sure enough, rips a gapper.

Okay... his 2025 film then. After looking at his splits this year, I have the perfect formula. Yelich plays: Day games, against righties, at AM Fam, and is immediately pinch-hit for when he goes 0-2 or 1-2 in the count. 🤣

“Where would you want me to hit him, seventh?” he said. “No, it makes it worse. You can’t take the ‘C’ off his uniform, you know what I mean? You don’t do that. You believe in him more. You show him love. Give him direction and believe he’s on it.”

Man really backed himself into a corner with this quote.

I'm not nearly as low on Yelich as portrayed here lately as its often an overreaction to hot/cold streaks we see over and over around here through the season.    But, the season is long and is a mental grind and right now is as good of any time to have him hit the DL and take a break, recharge, then try to get ramped up by the playoffs.  Everyone else is healthy right other than Frelick, so its a good time to go down and let the others split the DH days.  If someone else gets hurts the day after its bad luck. But chances are that won't happen and if someone else does get hurt or also massively slumps in two weeks then boom bring him back.  IDK, or maybe they do the have this on the radar and are waiting for Frelick to be back to do it.

Dodgers do this stuff all the time to rest guys.

I find it a little hilarious that he moved him to the very spot that he said you can’t move him to or you’d be ripping the C off his jersey. I would have thought he’d have put him at 6 or 8 just to avoid that pickle.

Ortiz not in the lineup I called. The only guy who did anything last night.

Well, baby steps.

Ortiz had 2 weakly hit infield singles last night. I get he had 3 hits but we can be honest and say he was very lucky to get 2 of those hits.

I have been waiting for the day when someone introduces a metric to gauge the run or win differential involved in filling out a lineup card. I suspect I will be waiting for a while longer.

He hustled his ass off for two of those hits.

You gotta guy in the office who is known by everyone in the industry because he kicked ass at sales/design/coding, whatever. But he's been at it for 30 years and is not carrying his weight anymore. Of course, there are those in upper management who want his ass out the door now, but lots of others say he has earned and is owed a certain respect for what he was and who he is.
