Freddy Peralta is not washed. Not even close.

Has to be brutal for Mets fans to watch him throw 6 shutout in the ALCS after what he did in a Mets uniform this year.

So many empty seats in Tampa for a League Championship Series....

Probably a lot of people priced out.

Can't blame them, however, they don't draw well in the regular season either.  Honestly, they probably don't deserve to have a MLB team due to lack of support...

He definitely made himself a bunch of money this last half season.

They are on a good trajectory now with the new stadium coming in Tampa. The crowds are much better than their last time in the postseason.

There are going to be entire empty sections at Dodger Stadium tomorrow.

Maybe there should be some internal reflection on their part as to why both of those things occurred.

It’s such a shame because they’re such a well run organization, You’d think in a big populated state like Florida, with no other team besides the Marlins, they’d have no trouble drawing followers.

The Bucs don’t have the same problem to my knowledge. I think if the Rays stay they need a new stadium somewhere near downtown Tampa, not St Petersburg.

Of the four teams left only one ranks higher than 22nd in home runs. Two rank 27th or worse. I guess somebody forgot to tell 3/4's of the teams who made it this far you can't make it this far without being able to hit home runs.

We wouldn’t have made it this far without homers. The Dodgers scored most of their runs against Atlanta via the long ball. They haven’t hit any against the Brewers and are obviously struggling. Last year, Ohtani alone hit 8. The Guardians sealed their comeback with Jose Ramirez’s Game 5 homer. So yes, you still need to smash in the playoffs. Even the small ball Royals hit 17 in their 2015 World Series run.

Yeah. I don’t know if regular season HR ranking is a great illustration of their importance relative to being up 2-0 in the NLCS when we are hitting them now. Our playoff fate probably looks much different right now if we are trailing 5-2 in the HR category rather than up 5-2.

I have no idea if this guy is correct or not but this was an interesting watch

I think it is a fairly accurate analysis, certainly better than Statcast has on a ball like this. Watching the video view from home plate area you can clearly see that ball was going foul and it certainly was going to go farther than where Chourio caught it.

Steep launch angle, but 360 feet would barely be clearing the wall. Since a ball hit 342 feet is hitting the base of the wall, not the top of it.

First things first - get 2 more against the best team money can buy. If that happens, I don't like how hard it looks to play in the Trop - I mean physically. In addition to losing track of balls in the ceiling and the more often ricocheting, I also don't like the bullpens being in play in foul territory. And oh yeah, the Rays are a little scary as a baseball team, too...

It was about how teams who don't hit many homeruns can't win in October. I could have worded it better that teams who don't hit many homeruns can't win in October. Even if they do hit a few it isn't the way they win. I disagree the Brewers needed those homers to get this far. If you count those homers as outs then yes. If you count them as doubles then they probably win anyway. There are also two other teams still playing who also don't rely on homeruns and several who did who aren't.

Mainly my point is this season shows teams that hit a lot of homers aren't necessarily built better for the playoffs. Obviously hitting home runs help teams that don't rely on them. But a team who has a good offense without relying on home runs is still a good offense when they don't. A team that needs them to score isn't. Just ask the Yankees and Cubs.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Vegas stadium opening in 2028 also has low-30s K capacity.

I get why they are limiting capacity on indoor stadiums to keep costs down, but if we think World Series tickets are expensive now, imagine when there are only 30,000 of them per game.

Game 3 for the ALCS bumped to a 1 PM ET start due to expected inclement weather.

Will they bump Game 4 of the NLCS up to a 7 CT start?

I'd be surprised. That takes it mostly out of prime time for LA and west coast. I don't think Fox would do that.

it's on FS1 - FOX couldn't be bothered with bumping Hell's Kitchen and Special Forces for a playoff series....🙄

It's more what they sold their advertisers, I'm sure. Not arguing or disagreeing on the value of it, just opining on why I think it will stay at 8

How many people living in Florida are transplants?  I could see them supporting their team from growing up years.  Not Florida teams.  Then again, how does that explain Vegas...

Wow that made my brain explode. Watching the game live, and after watching the Brewers play on TV at Miller Park my whole life and seeing probably thousands of foul balls...when he hit that, my brain right away said it's foul. France not running either made me think the same thing. That was my no math gut response and I'm sticking with it.

I've actually done similar trajectory work in my day job. The challenge with statcast is that we don't know the spin on the batted ball or even whether it was front or back spin.

From what I've seen, with the right amount of back/side spin (backspin makes the ball go farther) it could have been a home run.

I agree with you that the video/eye witness evidence suggests it was headed foul. But if it was close it could have been at the whims of video review. It was such a lucky coincidence that it got deflected almost perfectly to where Chourio was standing. He didn't even have to adjust a single step. That's where the "hand of Ueck" jokes write themselves.
