I doubt he would be playing any better with more plate appearances.  Hiura is what he is.  Someone who will get hot for awhile and then will be absolutely ice cold for long stretches.  This looks like it is the beginning of a long cold streak for Hiura.

He's got like a .950 OPS over his last 7 games. Tough crowd.

You talking about this whole squad if that's the case. Why pick on Hiura?

As much as I would like to blame the offense it seems like when we lose to the Cubs and Reds and Pirates it's the pitching staff giving up way to many runs.

Probably because it is. They need more than three runs, but they need their best starter to be better.

I'm going to type this at the risk of seriously offending the eternal optimists that post in the game threads:

We can't rely on our strengths to win (pitching) and our average squad of bats can't get us there, so what do we have?

Tired of hearing the Padres have the hardest schedule, so we have a shot crap too.  We can't and don't take care of business when given opportunities, what makes anyone think this team, as it sits will suddenly wake up?

If they came back and won this game tonight, I'd feel the same.

This team is toast.

They've been toast for a few weeks now.  I watch because there isn't much else worth tuning to.

I see what you did there - jinxed into a game winning Keston hit for his next AB.

This is the same story repeating itself - Hiura isn't playing everyday at the MLB level and it's impossible to know whether it's the sporadic playing time (particularly against RHP) leading to hitting struggles or not.  He also continues to be the one hitter on this roster that gets jerked around so much - last I checked he's still got the highest OPS on the team or is at least right where Renfroe currently is.

The worst part is Burnes had a strike zone the size of Cedarburg to pitch to and he was still leaving balls over the plate.

One of the most frustrating games of the season and it’s not even over yet. The story of this season will be struggling to beat the really crappy teams in our division. I’m just so dang frustrated.

They’re hitting was always going to be crappy. The story of the season will be their vaunted pitching staff slipping into mediocrity, which is why they suck.

Too bad they waited two weeks too long to bring up the kids. Ruiz and frelick should be on the next plane.

And Wiemer and Turang.  Might as well toss in Feliciano.  These kids might rival the 2000's bombers.  Hopefully the pitching can be a little better.

I'd be 100 percent fine with a bunch of trades and non tenders this winter.

Was that inning fun?

Are you aware we just tied the Pirates - who are awful - after Burnes pitched a stinker?

This has not been a fun game, a fun team … & like anyone with a brain - yes, I’m thrilled to see Mitchell go deep

It should not have come down to a late rally … the game is not over … Williams had to pitch yesterday when we almost blew another lead against a terrible opponent

Hopefully, Williams can get through the 9th without giving up a run & we win it in walk off fashion … that would be fun
