Would it make sense to bring Woody up for his next start? I know they want 1-2 more rehab starts however 85-90% of Woody for 70 pitches is better than Rea, Teheran, or Houser will give you. If Woody is throwing anyways and his stuff has been good why not have it in the big leagues. His next start would be at the Nats or home vs. Pirates so it's not like he would be facing a daunting offense.

Scherzer to Rangers.

According to MLBTR, Mets are also sending around $35M to TEX in the deal.

Scherzer waived his NTC to facilitate the deal.

Mets get Acuña the younger, currently sporting a 121 wRC+ with 42 SB | 5 CS as a 21 year old in AA.

In my quest of trying to figure out why the Diamondbacks traded Scherzer in the first place, I found this gem. LINK.

Ian Kennedy and Edwin Jackson for Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth. 🤦‍♂️

I remember there were a lot of Brewers fans who liked Jackson...not that it ever came to fruition, but also that the D-backs paid a steep price. It wasn't just Scherzer, Schlereth looked like he was going to be a really nice BP arm as well.

I'm starting to wonder if the Dodgers have dominated the NL West more because the teams around them seem to make so many stupid trades...the Padres in their desperation haved traded a full roster of young, controllable talent away for expensive talent, the Rockies...as one exec put it, "live in their own wolld," and the D-backs, probably the best run team, they've made their far share of head-scratching moves as well. The D-backs and Rox seem to aim their ire at the NL Central, but the Padres are equal opportunity idiots.

The Giants seem run well enough. Even when Sabean was there and making what seemed like suspect deals, there at least seemed to be a method to their madness of acquiring aging veteran, but it worked.

I'm guessing the thinking would be a competitor like Woodruff wouldn't be able to help it and push it vs either team. More adrenaline, reaching back for a bit extra before he's all the way back, stressing the shoulder when he's NEARLY ready...seems like the risk outweighs the reward.

Gasser on the other hand...I guess the thought has to be about the rule 5 and how much a start now is worth vs putting him on the 40 man? There's a lot more to balance than just calling up the best available.

Maybe that's why Jarvis was pulled from his start. Incase they needed to over some innings.

That was pretty wild.

I still remember attending a Brewers-Twins game at County Stadium and Jim Gantner and Steve Lombardozzi got into it at second base, causing a Donnybrook with several side fights.   My cousin and I were loving it.  Our fathers gave us death stares to “knock it off” and stop promoting the violence.

I need to look this up.  If I remember correctly it was either the day Roger Maris died or the day Kate Smith (of “God Bless America” fame) died.  I was at both games only because I remember them making a big deal about both on the County Stadium scoreboard   And, yes, my dad and my uncle both were very sad about both announcements.

Quite the bru-ha-ha in Cleveland tonight..

That was reminiscent of a hockey fight. The umpire literally backed off and let them go at it!

It all looked so innocuous to start with, but once Anderson threw off his glove and put his dukes up it got real, fast.

I’d put my money on Rougned Odor or Nolan Ryan over either one, but JRam did dodge a couple shots and land a nice blind counter punch to Anderson’s chin that knocked him to the canvas, er dirt, so I scored it a 10-8 round for Jose.

Imagine being an Angels fan. They were fairly big buyers at the deadline and have now lost 6 in a row. They’re probably going to lose Ohtani for nothing and last made the playoffs in 2014. All of this with Trout and Ohtani. What a mess.

But they are trying!

What an awesome weekend for the Mariners. Hopefully the Angels blow it up so that Trout can get out of there as well.
