Again, this doesn't need to be the Hiura thread.

Come on man, ownership knows clicks and posts are good for business and one thing indisputable about Hiura is he generates clicks and posts at this website

Not withstanding the above, you may  think there is no need for another Hiura thread, but it sure beats yet another thread where there hasn’t been posts for days…..

Hiura is just bad at defense and bats from the wrong platoon to be worth rostering.  If he was lefty like Winker there's enough at bats to give to a no defense player at DH.

Adames has the defense ability to stomach his batting, most of the time while being righty.

Oh and Paul Skenes if you've been away all day is your NL AS game starting pitcher.

It makes me wonder if it would become a good side hustle to start a community blog on the page with headlines like ‘What Brewers’ Leadership Doesn’t Want You to Know About Keston Hiura’

Keston Hiura was DFA'd. I guess the -25 wRC+ and 37% K-rate wasn't good enough to keep him in the MLB.

But, the Brewers are so stupid and mismanaged him so bad!

It's funny because I was actually starting to believe the Brewers messed with his swing because so many people were saying it. I randomly started watching a Keston Hiura college video and he had the high finish and more uppercut style swing even back in college, so I don't know when/why the idea the Brewers messed with the swing started.

The Angels just needed to give him more consistent playing time!!

Mismanaged him and the DH spot in 2023. Of course.

On July 10, 2022, Hiura was sent down…….hitting .805 in 144 PA, which was considerably higher than about every Brewer that ear and now this year outside of Yelich (and Haase).
Hit .866 against RHP, ….949 as a DH….for the entire MLB year, even with a Sept. slide.

Brought back in 2023 for $2 million to hit all year at AAA Nashville where he hit .960 (.882 this year) while our many rotating DH were the sadly worst in baseball at .658.

Hit terrible with Angels in 7 starts within an 2.5 week period. Only 27 years old. I am on very thin ice..,well, actually one boot has fallen through by now. Still believe but he is getting close to the end if he doesn’t take advantage of his breaks.

I don't mean this as a personal attack I just genuinely don't comprehend how people even discuss Hiura? The guy just cannot hit in the big leagues. I am nostalgic about his ridiculous rookie campaign but even then signs pointed at the inevitable regression. He was a nice story and I wish the guy could perform but its just not going to happen.

His wRC+ ranks 316 of 383 players with at least 700 PAs since 2020, the guy is a horrible defender and his 59.1% contact rate and 38.5% K rate are the worst of those 383 players. And that doesn't even include his latest big league stint with a NEGATIVE 25 wRC+, which is 515 of 521 (min 20 PA). Small sample size and whatever but the guy just cannot hit.

He is a AAAA player at best. Did Counsell mismanage him? Maybe, probably. Was spending 2 mil on him last year stupid? Yeah. That does not mean the guy can hit.

Also fun fact Brent Suter's career strikeout rate is better than Keston's

These stupid stats that mean absolutely nothing are numbing.

You can take the greatest players of all time and come up with some obscure, reaching stat that makes them look foolish.

Which stats actually mean something in your opinion?

So by questioning my statement made above, you put some weight in the fact that Brent Suter's strikeout rate is better than Keston Hiura's?

Ok then...

Sure, a bit. It is illustration of how much Hiura strikes out. It's not a standalone stat by any stretch whatsoever, but it provides some very rough context to Keston's struggles which are undeniable at this point.

Mainly, though, I just noticed that you seem to question stats quite a bit. So, I'm curious which ones you personally place value on is all....

Oh that was just something funny I found when looking at Hiura's numbers. Just a joke. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

The other stuff is very true and indicative of his struggles to hit major league pitching.
