Based on what?

They really lack the quality of Starters in the system. They do have some very good quality of Relievers imo though

Based on paying attention to the system? Just because they don't have any MLB ready SP prospects doesn't mean the farm system doesn't have a bunch of interesting pitching prospects.

In a genuine non-attacking way, which pitchers would you put within the top 10 prospects in the org (obviously including Mis)?

Sure, but Brown was viewed as a player roughly close to where the Brewers selected him. They weren't trying to throw away the pick. Wilken was ranked right around where we drafted him, and he was willing to sign underslot. They took guys they liked where they're generally viewed by the industry should go, and the fact they were willing to sign for less is a big factor in why they drafted them.

I liked the Wilken pick, but Ray and Brown were wasted selections from the second they were made. I'm intrigued by today's pick, and I'm excited for what's coming up yet.

Yoho was a great pick, but it had absolutely nothing to do with having extra money. Use examples like Pratt.

You are correct! Woops totally forgot Yoho signed for 10k. Ok yeah still Pratt, Bitonti, etc

Misio, Henderson, Woessner, Blalock, Wichrowski, Rudy, Herrera, Kuehner, Hunt, Aquino, Jimenez, Knoth, Galindez are all really interesting guys.

Misiorowski and Gasser are Top 10 locks. Henderson, Wichrowski, Knoth, Letson all have arguments for the Top 10. That's already 6 pitchers.

Now these aren't all necessary big prospects but there's a lot of intriguing pitchers at every level outside those guys.

AAA - Rodriguez and Patrick

AA - Blalock and Smith

A+ - Hunt, Herrera, Kuehner (although I think he's a Hoby type RP)

A - Galindez, Rodriguez, Birchard

Mis, Wichrowski, Gasser, arguably Knoth, Henderson, and Letson. They're quite deep on intriguing upside arms at the moment.

I didn't say they didn't. There is no truth to the statement pitching is the strength of the system. None. Unless the Brewers who by the way traded a Cy young level pitcher because they couldn't afford to pay him are going to start paying top dollar they should always prioritize drafting their own. That's all I'm saying. If you argue against that I don't know what to tell you.

I consider Gasser to be MLB at this point,  I'd agree on Mis, Knoth, and Henderson.  Wichrowski to me is 10-15, and Letson has a ways to go before I'll put him top 15.

Quero, Black, Wilken, Pratt are top 5 for me with Mis. Bitonti, Boeve, and Y. Rodriguez in next 5 or so with an argument for Areinamo so I consider the system to be more hitter-heavy.

Partially agree, but that Cy Young candidate wasn't a high pick.

I understand that I just liked some of the arms available vs a 17 yr old slap hitting outfielder. Still time though.

I'd love Sloan, but if his number is $4M and if the Brewers saved at least $1.5M (hopefully more) on their first pick then I wouldn't expect Sloan until 57 or 67.

From Fangraphs: Beefy first base-only power-hitting prospect with plus all-fields juice. Sandwiched a down sophomore season between stellar freshman and junior campaigns. Led Division-I in doubles and had a 31-game hit streak as a junior. Pretty good plate coverage; tends to hit the ball where it's pitched. Hits some epic golf shot pull-side homers, can also flatten his path and bang stuff on the outer half to the opposite field gap. Plate discipline is an issue. Poor secondary pitch recognition leads to some in-zone whiffs versus hittable pitches. Your profile has to be iron clad to project as an average first baseman, and Burke's chase rates are a body blow to his. His power and barrel feel should still allow him to play a big league role for as long as he can maintain his current level of athleticism, ranking in the 25-40 range when you line up all the first basemen.
