It should be for a team like Milwaukee.

No, it should not.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

On some level there is a risk to the take underslot to later draft overslot. Nothing guarantees guys you really like are going to be there. I have no idea how to quantify that risk, but if drafts like last year are the upside it seems like it's worth trying.

Also like 5 of the 7 Brewers overslot spending last year was 10th round plus..  Not really going to be concerned about the draft until it is completed.  Hell our 20th round pick last year was signed over slot and flipped for Hudson, which has worked out nicely.  Letson is another overslot guy in the 11th last year that looks killer so far.

Agreed. If you are going to pay a lesser talent more and a better talent less just reverse the order so you get who you like and aren't at the mercy of others.

If only the Brewers would draft BPA maybe we would have one of the best farm systems in baseball while almost never drafting at the top of the draft!

Chris Levonas - Prep RHP

https://www.mlb.com/prospects/draft/chris-levonas-815484

Thin and wiry strong in a Joe Kelly or Walker Buehler way, Levonas has big stuff despite his smaller frame. He was up to 96-97 mph over the summer and has continued that this spring, throwing the fastball in the 91-96 range. He can really spin two different breaking balls and depending on when he’s been seen, both the low-80s slider and upper-70s curve have appeared better, flashing rpm north of 3,000. There’s some feel for an upper-80s changeup as well that could be average.

High spin, high velocity.  Any Walker Buehler comp and I approve.

Levonas. Another one I like, Projectable kid fun fastball shape. If the price of getting Levonas and Meccage was Burke I am absolutely fine with it. And who knows what we might get the next 2 days

He legitimately has five pitches to work with. AND, he throws a cutter (which we know the Brewers love). This is my favorite upside pick so far. Just a really toolsy guy with massive upside.

Payne (17.9) tied for 2nd youngest on FG Top 100.

Meccage (18.3) tied for 12th.

Levonias (18.4) tied for 15th.

Didn’t click on the individual birthdays but that is 3 of the 17 youngest players on their board.

HS pitcher with elite spin again. I approve!

Overall a pretty similar draft to last year- early picks that had people scratching their heads and then swinging for the fences later on.

2 big HS arms, a HS athlete and a college big bopper bat.  That's pretty fun, although the fun-ness went in reverse order.  Works out fine in the "end." (ask me in 2030)

Which, as we know, is the deepest pool of talent already in the entire system. The Brewers are absolutely already stacking their next wave years down the line.
